James ‘Arg’ Argent admitted his relationship with Gemma Collins is suffering due to her appearance in Dancing On Ice .
The TOWIE star’s training schedule and stress over her row with judge Jason Gardiner has meant it’s been tough for the couple’s relationship in recent weeks.
Wedding singer Arg, 31, admitted the week before last was particularly tough after Gemma was accused of being "unprofessional" by Holly Willoughby and "lazy" by Jason.
He told The Sun on Sunday : "I knew the show was going to be a challenge for us, that it would be tough, I didn’t expect it to be this tough."
Arg revealed Gemma had been taking it out on him and other close friends and family members when she was stressed and tired, but was trying to be understanding.
He continued: "There was one particular week which was so, so tough for us as a couple. If we can survive that, I honestly believe we can survive anything. I love her so much and I won’t allow this show to break us up."
The couple, who have dated on and off since 2012, haven’t been spending as much time together because Gemma has temporarily moved out of their Brentwood home and relocated to Hertfordshire to stay near the Dancing On Ice studio.
Arg will be supporting Gemma in the audience during Sunday’s show and will be hoping there’s no repeat of the argument between her and judge Jason.
Last week, Jason accused Gemma’s routine of "lacking elegance" and said she needed to focus on skating more because "we’re not going to see lifts from you".
Gemma retorted that her lack of practice was down to her feeling upset over her negative press coverage and accused Jason of "selling stories on me".
In response, Jason has threatened to sue Gemma for defamation over her comments.
On Saturday, he pointed out that Gemma couldn’t blame him for her poor performance on the ice because his interview – in which he branded her "lazy" – only came out a day before the show.
He tweeted: "Finally someone who is observing facts and not jumping on false bandwagons! Her week was allegedly ‘ruined’ by what @Schofe and @hollywills had said on @thismorning earlier in the week. #facts #observant #goldstar #honestjudge."
Giving his verdict on the row between his girlfriend and Jason, Arg said: "He’d heard things about her and jumped on the bandwagon after meeting her only once. He body-shamed her, made sly digs about her weight and compared her to a dead person. That’s not nice."
