Paul McCartney had a rare reunion with his former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr on Sunday at London’s O2 Arena. The pair performed on their hit song “Get Back” with support from Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
“We’ve got a little surprise for you. It’s a surprise for us, actually – it only happened today,” McCartney, who is currently touring in support of his recent album Egypt Station, told the audience, Rolling Stone reports.
“But first of all I’d like to introduce the fantastic member of the Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood.” After the pair exchanged light-hearted comments, McCartney said, “And I believe we’ve got someone else who’s going to help us out. Ladies and gentlemen, the ever-fantastic Mr. Ringo Starr.”
“I don’t know about you, but that was a thrill for me. Peace and love everybody and a Merry Christmas,” Starr said after the performance.
The Freshen Up tour is in support of McCartney’s latest studio album, Egypt Station, his first No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 in over 36 years.
