Beer thrown on Michael van Gerwen at World Darts Championship

Michael van Gerwen’s opening match at the World Darts Championship was delayed after beer was thrown at the world No 1 at Alexandra Palace.

Van Gerwen was the headline act of the evening session, where the 29-year-old began his bid for a third world title in the sold-out venue against England’s Alan Tabern.

Tabern made his way to the stage first but was left waiting several minutes after the unsavoury incident at the back of the walk-on area, where Van Gerwen was waiting to be introduced to the sell-out crowd.

Van Gerwen and his neighbouring security guard were left covered in beer thrown by a spectator, who was immediately removed from the venue, leaving the Dutchman having to go back outside of the main arena to change his shirt.

Despite the hold-up in play for Van Gerwen being left visibly upset by the event, Van Gerwen was still able to post a 102.59 average on his way to a 3-1 victory and set up a third-round meeting with Max Hopp.

“It has never happened to me before,” Van Gerwen told Sky Sports. “I didn’t know how to react, I was so angry. What can you do? You can’t do anything.

“The only thing I could do was change my shirt and wash my hands, as it was all over my arms. We throw darts with our hands and every little thing on your hands gives you a different feeling. It was quite difficult and I was a little bit emotional, but I’m glad I won this game.”

Amal Clooney‘s vibrant marigold Stella McCartney midi dress was one of the most talked-about guest looks at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s royal wedding on May 19.

Merry Christmas from Norway! See Princess Mette-Marit in the Royal Family's Festive New Portrait

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas for the Norwegian royals!

King Harald and Queen Sonja are front and center in a new family portrait released for the holiday season. The traditional snaps, which also feature the King’s heir Crown Prince Haakon with his family – wife Princess Mette-Marit and their two children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 14, and Prince Sverre Magnus, 13 – were taken at the Royal Palace in Oslo on Friday in front of a decked-out Christmas tree.

Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit also took the opportunity to pose for a more intimate photo with their kids. Haakon rests his arm on Prince Sverre Magnus’s shoulder, and both the father and son look dapper in suits and ties. Princess Ingrid Alexandra opted for a dark turtleneck and skirt with tights, while her mother sported a cozy white sweater and flowing black skirt.

Queen Sonja also opted for a white – but added a pop of color with her bright red heels!

The cheerful photo comes just months after Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 45, announced that she has been diagnosed with chronic pulmonary fibrosis, which occurs when lung tissue becomes scarred and causes reduced oxygen supply in the blood. There is currently no way to reverse or slow down the damage to the lungs.

“For a number of years, I have had health challenges on a regular basis, and now we know more about what these are in,” Mette-Marit said in a statement. “The condition means that the working capacity will vary. The Crown Prince and I choose to inform about this now, partly because in future there will be a need to plan periods without official program. In connection with treatment and when the disease is more active, this will be necessary.”

The disease is caused by a number of factors, but the Royal Court’s statement said that it’s “not yet clear” if Princess Mette-Marit’s condition “is linked to a more extensive autoimmune disease process or if there are other causes that underlie the lung changes.”

Princess Mette-Marit was a single mother of a son, Marius Borg Høiby, 21, when she married Crown Prince Haakon, the first in line to the Norwegian throne after his father, King Harald V.

The Royal Court stressed that finding the disease early “is favorable considering the prognosis.”

“Although such a diagnosis in times will limit my life, I’m glad that the disease has been discovered so early,” Mette-Marit said in a statement. “My goal is still to work and participate in the official program as much as possible.”

US military says it killed 8 extremists in Somalia’s capital

The US military said it killed eight members of the al-Shabab extremist group with an airstrike south of Somalia’s capital.

The attack happened on Saturday near Gandarshe, a coastal community, according to the U.S. Africa Command. No civilians were involved, the military said.

The US has carried out at least 40 airstrikes this year against al-Shabab, an al-Qaeda-linked force considered Africa’s most active Islamic extremist group. It controls parts of rural Somalia and stages deadly attacks in the capital, Mogadishu, and other cities.

U.S. airstrikes have picked up dramatically since President Trump took office and approved expanded military operations in Somalia. The attacks also target a small presence of fighters linked to the Islamic State group.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis Gave the Ultimate Gag Gift to Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell

‘Tis the season for giving!

With only a little more than a week left until Christmas, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis got into the holiday spirit by giving their pals Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell a very original — and hilarious — gift.

In a photo shared to Instagram on Friday, Shepard and Kutcher proudly held up a shower curtain with a giant photo of Kunis and her husband’s smiling faces on it.

“What a generous Christmas gift from the Kunis-Kutcher family,” Shepard, 43, jokingly captioned the shot. “A beautiful shower curtain for the attic(t) bathroom!”

What a generous Christmas gift from the Kunis-Kutcher family. A beautiful shower curtain for the attic(t) bathroom!

A post shared by Dax Shepard (@daxshepard) on

The curtain is actually an inside joke between the couples as both Kutcher and Kunis have appeared on Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, which is recorded in an attic above Shepard’s garage. In the attic, there is a bathroom which does not have a door, but that didn’t stop Kunis from using it.

Shepard and Kutcher have been longtime friends since they starred alongside each other on MTV’s comedic reality series, Punk’d, in 2003. Recently they reunited on the set of Netflix’s The Ranch, which Kutcher, 40, stars on.

But it’s not just the men who are close pals and have worked together.

Their wives, Kunis, 35, and Bell, 38, are good friends, after co-starring in Bad Moms and A Bad Moms Christmas over the last few years. The women have also bonded over similar haircuts and joked about giving their young children — both couples have two — and sips of alcohol.

Kutcher and Kunis share daughter Wyatt, 4, and son Dimitri, 2, while Shepard and Bell have two daughters together: Lincoln, 5, and Delta, who turns 4 Dec. 19.

Though Shepard was smiling on Friday, just a day earlier, he was refuting claims about cheating on his wife.

The actor came under fire on Thursday, after a report surfaced that he was unfaithful to Bell with Julie Andrews’ step-granddaughter Kayti Edwards.

In a Daily Mail article, Edwards alleged that she and the Parenthood actor were intimate in 2009. Bell and Shepard began dating in 2007 and tied the knot in 2013. He denied the claims on Instagram Thursday, writing, “Hey Daily Mail, that photo is 13 years old, not 9.”

According to Edwards, the images of her and Shepard in a photo booth kissing were captured at a private party in Hollywood where the pair allegedly reconnected nine years ago. Shepard denied this and said they were from 2005.

He went on to allege that 41-year-old Edwards has “sold stories to tabloids about Matthew Perry, Jack Osbourne, Kid Rock, and now me.”

RELATED: Dax Shepard Doesn’t Have Time for Those Cheating Rumors

“I look forward to her next one. Fingers crossed it’s about my #1, Brad Pitt :)” he jokingly concluded.

Edwards told Daily Mail that she “came forward” with the allegation “to get ahead of the story. I posted a photo on Facebook of me and Dax from that night as a joke and recently a few media outlets have contacted me about it.”

She later added, “I don’t want anything to do with Dax. I wish him well. I wish them to be happy. I hope that they’re happily married. I mean they have children. So my wish is that they’re happy and stable for the kids.”

Surprise! See the New Photo from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Wedding on Their Christmas Card

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have started a new tradition — it’s their first-ever Christmas card!

The pair’s first festive season as a royal couple is being marked with the special card, and revealing a new peek at their private wedding celebrations.

In the image, the couple are photographed from behind as they enjoy the fireworks at the royal wedding evening reception at Frogmore House this past May.

In a statement, the palace says, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share a new photograph from their Wedding Reception at Frogmore House on 19th May.”

“The photograph, which was taken by photographer Chris Allerton, features on Their Royal Highnesses’ Christmas card this year.”

Their office at Kensington Palace released the image on the same day as one from Harry’s brother Prince William and his family.

It has been a momentous year for both princes. Harry and Meghan were married in May and in October — just as they kicked off their tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji — announced they are expecting their first child, which is due in the spring.

That child will be a cousin to William and Kate Middleton’s three children — including Prince Louis who arrived in April. (Kate also became an aunt to sister Pippa’s son.)

The new year will, too, bring a lot of changes for Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37. They announced last month that they will leave their current home at Kensington Palace and move into Windsor Castle’s Frogmore Cottage, close to the house where their evening wedding party was held and where their engagement photos were taken.

Windsor, located about 30 miles west of London, is a “special place” for the couple, their spokesman says.

The announcement of their move came just days after news broke that Prince William and Prince Harry are considering breaking up their joint “court” at Kensington Palace and creating two separate offices.

With William one day set to be the Prince of Wales – and all that entails as heir to his father Prince Charles – Harry and Meghan will want to forge their own path, so it’s a natural time to split up, insiders believe. (The palace has no comment.)

RELATED: A Christmas Note from the Queen: See the Royals’ Holiday Cards

“The arrival of Meghan has changed the dynamic of the relationship in a fairly significant way,” royals author Sally Bedell Smith previously told PEOPLE. “It is inevitable and practical because it gives Harry and Meghan some freedom to build up their own collection of interests and charities.”

She added, “Meghan has very strong views on what she is interested in and that may be what Harry shares, but not what William and Kate share

Federal judge in Texas rules ObamaCare is unconstitutional

FORT WORTH, Texas — A federal judge in Texas has ruled the Affordable Care Act “invalid” on the eve of the sign-up deadline for coverage next year.

In a 55-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor ruled Friday that last year’s tax cut bill knocked the constitutional foundation from under “ObamaCare” by eliminating a penalty for not having coverage.

Supporters of the law immediately said they would appeal.

The White House applauded O’Connor’s ruling, but said the law remains in place while appeals proceed. President Donald Trump tweeted that Congress should pass a new law.

Twenty Republican-led states brought the lawsuit. After Trump ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the health law, a coalition of ACA-supporting states took up the defense.

O’Connor is a conservative Republican appointee who previously blocked other Obama-era policies.
