Holding out hope for The One. Nick Viall opened up to Us Weekly exclusively about his search for love.
“It’s one of those things — you date, you see what happens,” the Bachelor alum, 38, told Us at WE tv’s Real Love: Relationship Reality TV’s Past, Present and Future panel on Tuesday, December 11. “There’s no timeline … when you’re single. I still hope to meet someone someday. That could be tomorrow, that could be in five years.”
Viall, who dubbed himself “still single,” knows one place he won’t find his perfect match. “I don’t see myself going on The Bachelor anymore,” he revealed. “I’m there to support it and the occasional cameo, supporting the franchise when I can, but as a contestant and looking for love? I will never go on a reality TV show for that. Other than that, there’s other opportunities that I’m not pursuing or looking for, but who knows?”
The reality star was the lead of The Bachelor season 21. He proposed to Vanessa Grimaldi during the finale, which was taped in November 2016, but the pair announced their split in August 2017.
“We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for,” the duo said in a joint statement to Us at the time. “We will continue to be there for each other no matter what.” The TV personality told Us in November that the exes do not keep in touch.
Viall also finished as the runner-up on Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s seasons of The Bachelorette and appeared on season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise and season 24 of Dancing With the Stars.
The ABC star plans to focus on his career in 2019, but before this year is over, he will spend the holidays with his loved ones. “I’m going to go home to Milwaukee and hang out with Mom and Dad and the siblings. Snowy Wisconsin. Probably, like, sit around,” he joked. “When I go home, I have a lot of hometown friends there. In all seriousness, I’ll catch up with them. A lot of them are popping out babies and things like that. I’ll just lay low and, really, it’s just a time to have quality time with friends and family, so I look forward to it.”

Afghan veterans are ‘pitied’ by the public rather than respected due to TV shows portraying them as mentally ill, Chief of Defence Staff claims
General Sir Nick Carter served as Commander Land Forces at the end of the war
He said TV shows were damaging public perceptions of Afghanistan veterans
Carter called for them to be treated with ’empathy, not sympathy’ by public
General Sir Nick Carter served as the Army’s head as Britain withdrew from Afghanistan
General Sir Nick Carter has hit out at TV shows for making the general public ‘pity’ Afghanistan veterans.
The General, who served as Commander of Land Forces during the conclusion of Britain’s deadliest military involvement since the end of World War Two, said shows like ‘the Bodyguard’ were harmful to the public’s attitude towards former soldiers.
In particular Carter said the BBC show made it look like veterans were ‘scarred for life’ and argued there should be greater emphasis on ’empathy, not sympathy’.
‘While our servicemen and women appreciate public support, they want to be valued and respected – not pitied,’ Sir Nick said, according to the Telegraph.
‘In other words, it’s about empathy, not sympathy.’
Sir Nick said in particular the younger generation of veterans are misunderstood because of dramas, documentaries, films and even charity campaigns.

BBC show the Bodyguard featured a mentally-ill lead character who was an ex-soldier who had fought in Afghanistan
He blamed the perceived misrepresentation as partly responsible for the Army’s current recruiting crisis.
Sir Nick contrasted the public ‘misconception’ of Iraq and Afghan service personnel with the ‘respect and honour’ shown to Second World War veterans – in his first keynote speech since taking up the post of Chief of the Defence Staff.
‘The respect and honour shown to our Chelsea Pensioners proves that, as a nation, we value our older veterans,’ Sir Nick added, ‘But we also have a generation of younger veterans from more recent campaigns subject to misconceptions.’
While he declined to name specific programmes, Bodyguard, the BBC One’s hit series watched by 10.4 million viewers for its finale, had at its centre a ‘troubled war veteran’ tasked with protecting the home secretary.

Carter, 59, has previously questioned whether young people in Britain appreciate the importance of the military and understand ‘the notion of service’.
Speaking at an annual defence industry dinner in support of Ssafa, Britain’s oldest armed forces charity, he suggested that a generational divide meant that young people take the principle of service for granted.
According to the Times, he said: ‘I think my generation understand the notion of service all too well, naturally recognising that freedom, without the commitment to service, without charity, duty, or pride in one’s country, is unworthy of our British values and unworthy of those who have died in their defence.’
He compared his generation to the younger one and admitted that he wonders whether they will still offer the same level of support to the army as they are ‘less likely to have been exposed to military service.’
He added that young people have grown up in an ‘increasingly complex world’ and face many distractions, meaning that their attention spans are fleeting and they may be less open to the military.
Nick Cannon is sticking up for Kevin Hart after the comedian stepped down from hosting the 2019 Academy Awards. Hart was announced as Oscars host on December 4, but soon afterward controversial jokes featuring LGBTQ slurs from Hart’s past began to resurface. After initially refusing to apologize, Hart eventually said he was sorry and confirmed he would not be hosting as to “not be a distraction” to the show at large.
Cannon showed support for Hart on Twitter by re-posting old tweets from female comics Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, and Chelsea Handler that, similar to Hart, feature LGBTQ slurs and derogatory terms. Cannon noted he’s a fan of Silverman’s “Wreck-It Ralph” franchise despite the fact she once tweeted in 2010, “I dont mean this in a hateful way but the new bachelorette’s a f*g.”
A 2012 tweet from Amy Schumer read, “Enjoy ‘Skyfall’ f*gs. I’m about to get knee deep in Helen Hunt #TheSessions.” Cannon also re-posted a 2010 tweet from Handler that said, “This is what a f*g bird looks like when he flexes.”
Cannon’s re-posts were not designed to drag the female comics but to question why so much backlash was given to Hart when homophobic jokes have been made for some time by comics both male and female. Cannon’s overall point seems to be that comics should not have to be silent or politically correct in their jokes.
“You know I’ve been saying fucked up shit since twitter started!” Cannon replied to one fan. “I don’t play that politically correct bullshit! Fuck politics!! Only Truth!”
Cannon originally celebrated Hart’s hosting announcement on Instagram, saying he “couldn’t be happier” for Hart. “Real talk my bro deserves every bit of what God is blessing him with,” Cannon said. “The hardest working, kindest, and most genuine dude in the business.”
The Academy has yet to announce Hart’s replacement.
Priyanka Chopra has broken her silence after she was branded a "global scam artist" in a scathing article which claimed her marriage to Nick Jonas was fake.
The actress, 36, tied the knot with singer and actor Nick, 26, in a fairytale ceremony earlier this week.
But the nuptials were criticised in an article published in The Cut – an offshoot of New York Magazine – which asked ‘Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love for Real?’
The story, by writer and comedian Mariah Smith, claimed that Nick, who is 10 years younger than his wife, was only looking for a "fling" but "wound up staring at a life sentence with a global scam artist".
She claimed ex-Bollywood star Priyanka, who holds the lead role in ABC’s Quantico, is only using the heartthrob for her own personal gain and the marriage is a sham.
Family and friends were quick to jump to the couple’s defence.
Nick’s brother and bandmate, Joe Jonas, tweeted: "This is disgusting. @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. What Nick and Pri have is Beautiful Love. Thank u, Next."
His fiancée, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, added: "This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting. Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bulls**t."
Priyanka herself later responded to the article.
She was quoted by the Hindustan Times as saying: "I don’t even want to react or comment. It’s not even in my stratosphere. I’m in a happy place at this moment. These kind of random things can’t disturb it."
Following widespread backlash, the article was later removed and The Cut issued an apology.
An editor’s note read: "The Cut published a post about Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s relationship that shouldn’t have gone up.
"We’ve received dozens of messages from readers expressing their anger. We want you to know that we hear you and we’re sorry. The whole piece missed the mark.
"There is no good explanation for this other than human error and poor judgement. This was a mistake, and we apologise to our readers and to Priyanka and Nick."
On Friday, the newlyweds released pictures from their three-day wedding extravaganza.
The pair became engaged in London on July 18, 2018, Priyanka’s birthday, before they headed to Mumbai to celebrate their engagement.
They celebrated their fairytale wedding in style and married at Umaid Phawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, after a week of amazing celebrations.
Things kicked off on November 26 with a dinner party in Mumbai, before Priyanka’s mother, Dr Madhu Chopra, invited the wedding party to their home for a traditional puja ceremony.
This is a celebration of the impending nuptials to take place later that week, and Priyanka shared an image of the whole family on celebrating together.
Nick’s family also turned up, with Joe and Sophie joining the festivities, wearing traditional Indian dress for the occasion.
The bride, in contrast, wore an embellished cream suit which was covered in embellishments, while Nick wore a pink kurta (tunic) and cream trousers.
After this, the group flew over to Jodhpur, and Priyanka got some last minute fittings at the JW Marriott hotel ahead of the marriage ceremony, with designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee landing shortly after the happy couple, sparking speculation that he may have designed some garments.
At the palace on Friday, both sides of the families performed songs and dances for the couple in the Sangeet, in an incredible performance which lit up the entire area, though Priyanka joked it was a "fierce competition" for the families.
She said: "It all began as a fierce song & dance competition between the families but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love. Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre wedding ritual.. and to see what each side had put together.
"And what a performance it was. Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evning fod th rest of our lives.
"It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends…#grateful @nickjonas @calebjordanlee @josevilla @josephradhik"
Parineeti Chopra, Priyanka’s cousin, also shared a post about their Bollywood-style performance, though they shared the trophy with the Jonas family, who had a more tradition American style.
Next was the mehendi, the applying of henna before the wedding, and Priyanka shared her happiness over this, saying: "One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures.
"And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing."
She added they "made it our own" and they both dreamed of kicking off their celebrations as they did.
Nick wore a beige, plain Indian suit while Priyanka amazed the group with a brightly coloured dress, and Sophie wore a black and gold sari.
After this, the pair had a Christian ceremony, officiated by Nick’s father Paul Kevin Jonas Sr, for which Priyanka wore a Ralph Lauren gown covered in Swarovski, mother of pearl and crystal seed beading, and was kitted out with a 75ft tulle veil.
Nick wore the same designer as he wore a double-breasted black tuxedo with a purple lapel, which had a lace from the bride’s dress sewn into it with the Urdu words "my jaan," meaning "my life."
The pair finished off the ceremonial section with a Hindu ceremony, for which Priyanka wore a red lehenga, designed by Mukherji, which had a Chopard 16-carat, oval diamond headpiece and carats of diamonds set in white gold for the necklace.
Nick, sporting the traditional dress, wore a cream, silk turban and long, cream outfit with gold shoes.
The newlyweds then flew out to Delhi for another wedding reception, and another reception for mates in the industry is still being planned.
The 28-year-old spat the foul fruit out immediately, gurning, screaming loudly and providing probably the most dramatic reaction anyone has ever given to a piece of fruit.
"You eat the whole thing," Nick told her, adding inaccurately: "It's perfectly fine."
However, she screamed, jumped around and yelped: "I don't like that one."
The spectacle left viewers reaching for their volume buttons, with one complaining: "Cannot stand one more emily scream sorry."
Another added: "Emily is getting a bit annoying this eve."

A third referenced the campmates' earlier conversation about Cockney rhyming slang, tweeting: "Emily screaming is getting right on my Bristol Cities."
Another pleaded: "Emily has become annoying now please get her out tonight."
One other wrote: Nick looked so disgusted by Emily when she ate that kumquat!
"She’s so annoying at times!!!"
However some fans backed her, with one writing: "Emily's reaction to that kumquat was the same as me whenever i try 'healthy' food 🤣."

‘It’s ridiculous but fantastic, it’s a thing ticked off my list. I’m hoping Fleur comes out and releases an album and James too.’
Tough time: James and Fleur teamed up for the latest Bushtucker Trial, which with a festive theme was called Ding Dong Merrily Up High
Earlier in the show the camp were in a giddy state after partying it up at the Jungle Arms the night before, with Anne admitting she felt her experience was now ‘complete’ and she would be happy to make an exit.
And after the final six said their goodbyes to Anne, it was time to decide who would be taking part in the latest Bushtucker Trial, with James immediately up for it after having a few days away from a challenge.
It came down to Fleur and Emily for who would be the other celebrity to take part, and the X Factor star won out.
Funny: James – dressed as Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer – was blindfolded meaning Fleur – as Santa – had to guide him along
Tense: Overall the pair managed to earn four meals out of six, as James just missed out on the last star after it slipped through his fingers in a dramatic leap of faith
The duo then headed to the valley for Ding Dong Merrily Up High, which saw them work their way across an obstacle course hung 30 metres over the valley, collecting presents worth meals for camp.

It proved a task that was both ridiculous and difficult, as James had to gather the gifts and then throw them to Fleur.
I’m flying! James then joined forces with Emily for the Dingo Dollar challenge, which saw them fly across the valley to choose flags, matching them to the correct countries’ names
Oops! Emily looked as it she was having a whale of a time as she launched herself over the ravine, though she also confessed she didn’t know the country of Cameroon even existed

Emily looked as it she was having a whale of a time as she launched herself over the ravine, though she also confessed she didn’t know the country of Cameroon even existed.
While the duo eventually managed to get the Dollars, once again the camp failed to answer the question correctly, and thus lost out on the treat of Millionaire Shortbread.
Teaming up: John, Emily and Harry then got the chance to win a luxury breakfast for the camp, by spending the night together in a doll’s house
Terrified: As they heard various dolls crying, the trio had to find them inside the pigeon-ridden house, and after putting 20 to bed they would win the top-of-the-range breakfast
After a dinner of duck, Fleur got a touching surprise as she received her letter from home inside a Christmas cracker.
Fighting back tears it was a sweet moment as John read out the letter from Fleur’s sister, which began with a reprisal of her new hit song I Love My Bum.

Hilarious: Despite Emily’s petrified screaming as the birds flew about the house, the group eventually returned to camp victorious
The presenter, 56, was hopeful a display of unity in camp would inspire viewers frustrated by Brexit.
Many of his fans felt he was nailed on to make Sunday's final, but it wasn't to be as Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby revealed his time was up.
In his exit interview he told the hosts: "We're having such a hard time in the UK at the minute and there's such division in the UK, I thought if we could show in here we can get on, it might influence people back home."
There are now only five famous contenders remaining – former X Factor runner-up Fleur East, actor John Barrowman, football legend Harry Redknapp, The Vamps star James McVey and actress Emily Atack – ahead of this Sunday’s final.
Gutted viewers wrote on Twitter: "Why is nick knowles not in the final 😲 #ImACeleb i had him, harry & fleur down as the final 3.

"I'm sorry but how has @MrNickKnowles been voted out of the jungle are the public mad 😡.

Thursday night's episode was action packed with fans praising James for his performance during his Dingo Dollar Challenge with Fleur.
Singer Fleur guided musician James across a plank which was suspended in the air while he was blindfolded and dressed as a reindeer.
The challenge area was surrounded by Christmas decorations as James attempted to grab presents as he made his way along the plank.
Praising James for his effort, one viewer wrote on Twitter: "If James doesn’t win after that I won’t only be disappointed in vamps fans but in the country as a whole #ImACelebrity."
Another posted: "WOW James has nerves of steel! Amazing!!
James even impressed himself as he jumped off the plank at the end of the task, not realising he was about to do so as he could not see what he was doing, accidentally conquering his fear of bungee jumping.
