The programme sees Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly and delve into their family trees in a Who Do You Think You Are?-style programme for ITV.
The show has been in the pipeline for months, but was put on ice after a particularly turbulent 2018 for Ant saw him take a break from telly.
ITV’s director of television Kevin Lygo said: “We had to stop filming as they hadn’t quite finished it, but I’ve seen the first part and it’s absolutely brilliant.
“They’ve got a bit of filming to do to finish it and it should go out late in the autumn — it will be a big thing.
“We test their DNA and they go back and find relatives they didn’t know about. The DNA profiling is so accurate and detailed.” The show sees Ant and Dec provide saliva examples with scientists analysing their DNA so they can trace their ancestors.
Kevin said: “I mean, it’s not Genghis Khan — there’s a village in Ireland where you have relatives just two generations back.
“Ant and Dec are brilliant together and they don’t know the story so it’s revealed as it happens. They go into a room with relatives they’ve never seen.”
Filming halted when Ant went into rehab after he was convicted of drink-driving following a car crash in March last year.
But with his returning to front Britain’s Got Talent, which is currently holding auditions at theatre across the UK, he’s now set to complete other work commitments.
Like the rest of the country, I can’t wait to see this.
Doctor in the house?
IT’S not even been a year since Big Brother was axed but Channel 5 is launching another hidden camera show.
In House Of Extraordinary People, nine housemates with extreme medical conditions will live together for ten days. The three-parter airs later this year and follows the Extraordinary People series, which featured a woman with cracked “snake skin”.
A telly source said: “It will show viewers what difficulties they have to deal with every day and how they cope living with people who should understand them the most.
“It should make compelling viewing and give a real insight into the lives of these people, who stand out from the crowd but often would rather not.”
Becky gets sporty
AFTER the success of Sky Sports’ football talent-spotting series The Next Jamie Vardy, I can reveal his missus Rebekah is to host a female-only version.
The I’m A Celeb contestant will work alongside Mansfield Town FC chief Carolyn Radford to help find the next generation of Women’s Super League stars.
A source said: “Both Jamie and Becky are really excited about the new series, especially as women’s football is really on the rise at the moment. Jamie is going to help out as much as he can.
“The couple are currently working out which channel to go with, as they want the biggest audience possible."
James' cryptic comments
JAMES Corden was spotted out in LA in this eye-catching hoodie – and hinted that Taylor Swift could be next up for his Carpool Karaoke show.
He tweeted afterwards: “Some of you have never had to harmonise with a Grammy winner while driving and it shows . . . ”
He then changed his text typeface to the one on Taylor’s album Reputation.
Not very cryptic but I’d tune in.
