Dog snuggles cushion with his dead brother’s face printed on it

Heartbroken hound snuggles up to a cushion with his brother’s face printed on it after his constant companion had to be put down

  • For a decade, Spencer and Rocky were inseparable and would even share a bed 
  • But owner Beth Fisher had to have Rocky put down after he developed cancer
  • Spencer would wander the house at night looking for Rocky and start to cry
  • He now cuddles up to a cushion emblazoned with a picture of his brother’s face 

This is the heart-melting moment a devastated dog snuggles up to a cushion emblazoned with the face of his dead pooch pal.

For a decade, brothers Spencer and Rocky were inseparable and would play together, eat from the same bowl and even sleep in the same bed. 

But after an incurable cancerous growth festered inside Rocky, owner Beth Fisher made the crushing decision to relieve her beloved pet of its suffering and have it put down.

The weeks after his friend’s death were tough on Spencer who ‘has been getting up in the night to wander the house looking for his brother,’ Ms Fisher told the Dodo. 

‘And then he starts crying because he can’t find him.’

To comfort Spencer, Ms Fisher’s father ordered a pillow with Rocky’s grinning face printed on it.

A tear-jerking video shows the grieving dog nestling up to the pillow to be close to his departed friend.

The minute-long clip shows Spencer –  a big dog with dark fur –  resting his head on the cushion upon which a white pooch – Rocky – is pictured.

Mourning Spencer wears a glum expression and stares longingly at the camera after his beloved brother and best friend passed away

A man then says: ‘Is that your pillow dog? Is that your pillow Spence? Aw, poor boy misses his brother.’

The video then cuts to another occasion which similarly shows the sombre dog mooching on the edge of the cushion and revealing Rocky’s panting face and his tongue lolling from his open mouth.

Throughout the clips, Spencer wears a glum expression and stares longingly at the camera.

In a clip when Rocky was still alive, Spencer, Rocky and an unknown smaller dog chasing after a stick, but Rocky – a much stockier animal – quickly gives up running and prompts Ms Fisher to jokingly shout ‘come on, fat boy!’

The video ends which a short piece of footage filmed in a park from when Rocky was alive.

Ms Fisher said: ‘Spencer has been cuddling into the pillow since it arrived, carrying it from the sofa to his own bed.’
