Peel police to provide ‘significant’ update on deadly Mississauga plaza shooting

Peel Regional Police have scheduled a news conference on Thursday afternoon to provide a “significant” update on the shooting death of a 32-year-old man in a Mississauga plaza parking lot earlier this week.

Officers arrived on scene and located a man, identified as Michael Deabaitua-Schulde, with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said two men wearing dark hoodies were seen fleeing the area. Authorities said a blue Honda Civic was found on fire near Rymal Road and Tomken Road several blocks away from where the shooting occurred.

Media reports indicate the victim was a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang.

The shooting is Peel Region’s fourth homicide of 2019.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the homicide unit at 905-453-2121 ext. 3205 or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
