Alfie star Shirley Anne Field’s cause of death as family share ‘great sadness’

The Entertainer and Alfie acress Shirley Anne Field’s death at age 87 has been addressed by her loved ones.

While the official cause has not yet been confirmed, her family have shared she died “peacefully”. A statement from them by her representatives read: “It is with great sadness that we are sharing the news that Shirley Anne Field passed away peacefully on Sunday 10 December 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.

“Shirley Anne will be greatly missed and remembered for her unbreakable spirit and her amazing legacy spanning more than five decades on stage and screen.”

Shirley was a model in the 1950s before she landed small parts in hit films such as Loser Takes All or It’s A Wonderful World, but she made her name as Tina Lapford opposite Laurence Olivier in The Entertainer in 1960 that really made her name.
