Amy Dowden has opened up about how she's "distraught" and has been having weekly "meltdowns" over losing her hair, as she continues treatment for breast cancer.
The Strictly Come Dancing pro, 33, announced in June that she had undergone a mastectomy after discovering that she had stage three breast cancer.
Amy later said doctors found another type of cancer and has since been documenting her experiences, hoping it will raise awareness and encourage others to check themselves.
Through documenting her cancer battle, Amy has opened up to her fans about her heartbreak after losing her hair following her chemotherapy treatment.
Taking to her Instagram Story on Monday, 11 September. Amy shared that her third round of chemo had been the "best one so far" before going on to discuss her hair loss.
Donning a pink headscarf, she shared: "'I think I cry less now. To begin with, it was every day, but now I have meltdowns when I wash my hair once a week. For the last two weeks now, I haven't brushed my hair and that has definitely helped."
"Since I came out of hospital with the blood clots, I stopped brushing it myself because I was just getting distraught seeing how much was falling out."
Amy then shared that her husband and fellow professional Ben Jones has been brushing her hair as this means she won't see the hair falling out.
She continued: "I obviously am aware of it, but I'm not physically seeing or holding the hair that I'm losing and that for me is helping me big time.
Amy added that the hair loss has been the hardest part of treatment for, but she isn't ready yet to shave her head.
It comes after Amy made an appearance at the National Television Awards, where she joined her co-stars on stage after Strictly took home the Best Talent Show award.
Former contestant and The X Factor star Fleur East gave Amy a special mention as she accepted the award. She said: "It's extra special because we are joined by the fabulous Amy Dowden on stage who looks absolutely incredible."
Television presenter and fellow Strictly star Tyler West then chimed in, saying: "We love you, Amy, honestly."
Caerphilly-born dancer Amy showed up on the red carpet of the awards on Tuesday evening in a beautiful pink tulle dress adorned.
She made a poignant nod to her diagnosis as she wore a breast cancer awareness pin, which she pointed out to the cameras.
