As the highly-anticipated docu-series House of Kardashian hits our screens, Caitlyn Jenner, the iconic former Olympian and reality star, has been making headlines, offering candid insights into her life and relationship with the Kardashian-Jenner family.
In the series, Caitlyn, the only Kardashian-Jenner family member to participate, opens up about her experiences and perspectives, making for riveting viewing.
The first episode is now available for streaming, and Caitlyn has been a prominent figure in the media leading up to its release.
In an interview with The Times of London, Caitlyn revealed why she chose to participate in House of Kardashian, emphasising her desire to present the family in a positive light.
She acknowledged the challenges of being in the public eye, especially within the Kardashian clan, and expressed her commitment to promoting a positive image.
Caitlyn stated: "Sometimes it's just very disappointing to see how they're represented. And when they approached me about doing this show, once I thought about it, I thought, 'You know what? I want to get involved. I want to do my best to be very positive and really represent the family and the kids in a positive way.'"
Regarding her relationship with ex-wife Kris Jenner, Caitlyn initially said they had limited contact during an interview with This Morning on October 4, saying: "Well Kris, I really never talk to anymore… It's kind of sad because we went through a lot."
However, she later clarified on Twitter, writing: “Don’t let the click bait or tabloid headlines fool you. I did ‘House of Kardashian’ to defend my family and I speak extremely highly of my kids and Kris – the mastermind behind it all – who I spent 22 beautiful years with.”
Caitlyn then tweeted: “To be clear – I am thrilled that @KrisJenner and I are able to talk and co-parent and see each other here and there. We spent 22 amazing years together. I meant to say in the interview I don’t / didn’t speak with her in the context of this project.”
Reflecting on her whirlwind romance with Kris, Caitlyn shared details of their love story to The Times, recalling their meeting on a blind date in 1990.
Their rapid journey from meeting to marriage, after just five and a half months, left Caitlyn "infatuated" with Kris, who, at the time, was a Beverly Hills housewife. She praised Kris for her role in taking over her business and securing opportunities like infomercials for the family.
Caitlyn also touched on her current relationship status in the interview, stating that she is content being "very single" and not actively seeking a new relationship.
In the documentary, Caitlyn discussed the infamous release of Kim Kardashian's sex tape with Ray J in 2007, revealing her reaction at the time and asserting that she had no involvement in or knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the tape's release.
Lastly, Caitlyn addressed her identity as a trans individual and her role in advocacy. She explained to the Evening Standard that while she initially felt compelled to take a more active role in advocacy, she now seeks to be an example rather than an activist.
She explained: “This is me like it or not. If you don’t like it fine, I don’t need to, I got a lot of people, I’ve got a lot of friends. Everything’s good, you know, be an example to people that you can go through something like that and make some major changes in your life and life’s gonna be ok.”
