Christine McGuinness stranded with kids amid flight chaos but says ‘it was meant to be’

Christine McGuinness is stranded on holiday amid the fallout from the UK air traffic control meltdown – but is “safe and happy”.

The model and TV personality, 35, gave an update on her unexpectedly extended sunshine getaway to her fans on social media. She is one of hundreds of thousands of airline passengers who have been stranded or delayed over the bank holiday weekend after flights were suspended due to a “network-wide” air traffic control computer failure.

The mum of three, who still lives with her ex-husband Paddy McGuinness in Cheshire for the sake of their children, wrote on Instagram: "Still stranded but safe and happy. My babies are reaching new milestones.”

She added: “This was meant to be. If you have followed our journey you will know going abroad with my children was once a dream. Now they're here on an unplanned, extended holiday coping with change and even making friends."

Christine has been keeping fans updated on her holiday since she ditched the UK over the weekend after finishing a week co-hosting the Radio City breakfast show in her home city of Liverpool. She then took to social media on Monday (28 August) by posting some snaps from her trip, which she has been enjoying with her mum as well as her children – twins Penelope and Leo, 10, and youngest daughter Felicity, six. Her three children have previously been diagnosed with autism.

She wrote: "The best holiday with my faves. Mummy, Nanny and my 3 little loves. Wow, I am so lucky.”

She added: “My babies have grown in confidence so much on this holiday, calmer in the airport, jumping in the pool and even enjoying the hotel restaurant."

"Nothing can stop us now babies, there is a whole world out there for us to see."

Later, in an Instagram post featuring a video of her taking in another evening of the sun going down, she said: "Stranded due to network failures across UK airports, no idea when we can get a flight home but I feel very lucky, we found a place to stay and I get extra time to make more memories with my babies."

She added alongside a snap of the beach as the sun set: "I trust in the universe. I had jobs booked all week, a million things to do at home getting ready to prep for 'back to school' but… we were meant to stay longer, we have more memories to make, time with my babies is priceless.

"I actually feel very grateful, we're not home, but we have everything we need."

While on the holiday, Christine also showed off her incredible figure – including impressive washboard abs – in a skimpy blue and green bikini as she promoted her swim and loungewear brand H-E-R.

It comes after a source close to the reality star told OK! that she still holds a lot of love for ex-husband Paddy.

"Paddy is still her ‘acting husband’ as they’re continuing to maintain a united front for the kids," the insider explained. "Though Christine still loves Paddy for the sake of their kids and they’re the perfect co-parenting partners, she’s loving the freedom of not being tied down and being able to enjoy a snog and a giggle whenever she wants."

Christine set tongues wagging last week when she was spotted holding hands and kissing pal Chelcee Grimes in Ibiza, while Paddy celebrated his 50th birthday at home.
