Denise Welch’s faux dating profile boasting her single status might also come as a surprise to her 50-year-old partner Lincoln Townley, as they’ve been married for almost a decade.
The 64-year-old looked on in disbelief as she shared a photo of herself on a German dating app, which announced her name was Gabi.
The quizzical star had caught sight of a tweet reading: “Obsessed with someone from work travelling across Europe and stumbling across a German catfishing as Denise Welch.”
Speedily responding, she declared it the “best tweet ever” and attached a screenshot of herself as 62-year-old Gabi.
The Loose Women presenter took up the story, exclaiming incredulously: “It says apparently……. I’ve been alone for a while. I’m curious and would like to be surprised and have nice conversation.”

Adding a string of tears of laughter emojis to punctuate her point, she seemed to be finding the Tinder profile extremely amusing.
In reality, Denise hasn’t been alone or seeking a date for many years, and she married the “love of her life” during a lavish ceremony at a private villa on the Algarve.
She gushed to Hello! magazine at the time: “This is about being together forever. There’s no one who can make me happier. This is my fairytale!”
Clearly, Denise’s 384,000 followers were far from fooled by the fake profile, with many as amused as she was.
At her wedding, she and Lincoln had vowed to stay off the booze in a bid to remember every moment of their precious day – and they’d toasted their marriage with glasses of orange juice instead.
Denise addressed her sobriety on Instagram just yesterday, marking the anniversary of 11 years without a single alcoholic drink.
“11 yrs sober today!!! Giving up my disastrous relationship with alcohol changed my life, my husband’s life and my children’s lives. Plus the lives of all who love me,” the former Coronation Street and Hollyoaks star wrote.
“It wasn’t easy. Addiction is a cruel and frightening illness. But together @lincolntownley and I realised that we were destroying many lives including our own and we did it,” she explained.
“I now have a wonderful marriage that is the foundation of my life. Our kids are happy and I hope those of you struggling find the strength to stop.”
She concluded: “If alcohol no longer makes you happy, if your drinking makes others lives miserable it’s time to stop.”
