Dick and Angel Strawbridge announce ‘dream come true’ move after Channel 4 axe

Dick and Angel Strawbridge might have said goodbye to Escape To The Chateau, but their careers are far from over as they announced a “dream come true” career move on Instagram this evening.

The couple took to their joint account to tell almost half a million followers: “Exciting announcement!…America and Canada…Here we come!

“It’s been some months in the planning and we are delighted to finally announce that we are Coming to America!! And Canada this February 2024 with our Dare To Do It Tour!”

Referring to their two children, the statement continued: “The excitement is tangible and Arthur & Dorothy have already started packing!

“Touring is like a dream come true for our family. We get to meet many of you that have been on our journey since day one and in between we get to see places we could never have imagined!”

The pair added that the tickets are currently on pre-order until Friday, September 15, when they will go on sale to “a wider audience”.

Meanwhile, they promised fans the personal touch, vowing: “Before anyone checks, the answer is 100% yes, we will most certainly be doing our meet & greets! Try stopping us!”

Dick and Angel continued: “Please join us for an evening filled with stories, games and laughs. We can’t wait to see you!”

Meanwhile, they hinted at hiccups in trying to organise the perfect venues, explaining: “In tour world, where shows are often booked years in advance, February 2024 is literally around the corner.

“The tour being so soon did mean many of our chosen locations simply had no availability, so this will be a shorter tour,” the couple explained.

However, undeterred, they added: “That [just] means that we will just have to come back!”

The dates have already caused distress among fans who saw that their chosen cities were not included, with some lamenting: “What about New York? No New York?”

So far, they are scheduled to tour on five special dates – in Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, Boston and, for their Canada portion of the tour, Toronto.

The news of the shows has been gratefully received among many, who commented on how much they are “missing” the TV series since it went off air.

Dick and Angel’s show was axed by Channel 4 after “a review” into their conduct and claims of clashes with producers.

However, the pair followed that “humbling” news by clarifying over the summer that they will also do a UK tour in 2024, with 33 dates planned at major cities including London, Brighton and Glasgow.

The couple, who lived in a two-bedroom flat in Essex prior to moving to France to renovate the famous chateau, revealed that they “can’t wait to return to the UK to share tales of our adventures, challenges, and the successes of building and living our Chateau dream”.

“There is only so much of our story that [has been] told on the telly,” the couple teased.
