Dick Van Dyke uses walking stick during rare outing with wife Arlene Silver

Dick Van Dyke, 97, made a very special public appearance as he attended the opening of a new exhibit featuring the works of his longtime photographer Laura Johansen.

Moments In Time Portraits By Laura Johansen will focus on the past decade of Dick’s life, and he attended the opening with his wife Arlene Silver, 52, and family by his side.

The Hollywood legend looked healthier than ever as he sported a tweed blazer with black pants, a white dress shirt, black pants and matching sneakers.

The Mary Poppins star appeared to be in great spirits as he was seen walking on his own with the slight help of a walking stick.

Arlene, who has been married to Dick for more than 11 years, looked great in an all-black ensemble which included a plunging top.

One of his four children, Barry Van Dyke, was also seen lending his support for his father and Johansen’s photography.

This comes after it was announced CBS would be airing a special on the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang actor just before Christmas.

Titled Dick Van Dyke 98 Years Of Magic, the show will look back at the screen legend’s storied career and will air a week after Dick celebrates his 98th birthday, according to Deadline.

CBS has a special connection to Dick, having aired his beloved sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show in the 1960s.

Dick said in a statement over the happy news: “I started with CBS under contract in 1955 with the CBS morning show, then The Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis Murder.

“I’ve been with the CBS family for almost 70 years, and I couldn’t be prouder.

“I’m incredibly honored that CBS will be throwing a 98th birthday special for me. Can’t wait to be part of the show!”

Old footage will also be played in the special, spanning some of the highlights of his wide-ranging career on stage, film, and television.

The actor also shows no signs of slowing down, having made appearances on The Masked Singer and Days Of Our Lives this year.
