Drew Barrymore has been seeing someone on and off for three years

The Drew Barrymore Show is now a week and a half into airing new episodes, sans their former union writers. The three WGA writers checked out after Drew tried to bring the show back before the writers strike was over. She also didn’t give the union writers a heads up about it, they found out on social media. Drew ended up reversing her decision due to immediate backlash, the WGA strike ended shortly thereafter, and the union writers still said “see ya!” to Drew. Good for them. So what’s happening on the show without those writers? On Monday Drew had Gwyneth Paltrow on, once again touting the 15th anniversary of GOOP (which no company has ever achieved before), and Drew shared that she’s been seeing someone on and off for three years. She says Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce gave her the confidence to ask this person to attend a wedding with her:

In a preview for Monday’s episode of the “Drew Barrymore Show,” she [Drew] reveals to Gwyneth Paltrow that she has been seeing someone “sort of in and around the last three years,” per Entertainment Tonight.

She further discloses that they met on the exclusive member-only dating app, Raya.

While discussing her relationship later on in the episode, the “Never Been Kissed” star says she took a major step recently: bringing her man to a wedding.

“I invited him to a wedding next weekend, and he said, ‘Wow, after three and a half years you are going to invite me to a wedding?’” she recalls.

During the preview, she further tells Paltrow that Taylor Swift’s shamelessly public relationship with Travis Kelce inspired her to finally disclose her own.

“I just want to say, for me personally, I have been single for seven years [and] seeing her on that first date out there in the box with his family, I had a big Oprah a-ha moment,” she notes, referring to the singer’s first appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears in September.

“There was something so normal about it, and obviously Taylor Swift is everything but normal, but I’m a female, I’m going to go out on a date with a male, I’m not going to overthink this, I am not going to be the dark horse and secretive and weird about it.”

She adds, “This was evidence of not being affected by what other people think … it was so calm, confident and normal that it just made me think I should do this too.”

Ok, I have to address this right off the bat: Drew totally and completely does not understand the term “dark horse.” In addition to the (mis)use here, I saw a clip from the episode of her talking to Ross Matthews, and she clearly thinks it means hiding away. I guess maybe because “dark” is in there? No honey, a dark horse is an unlikely candidate pulling off a win or an upset. Thank you Reader for letting me vent about that, it was really bugging me.

Moving right along. So the couple months-long hot-and-heavy saga of Traylor gave Drew the confidence to invite her on-off guy of three years to a wedding, eh? Everyone is entitled to share the details of their personal relationships in the manner and time that they so choose, I’m not knocking that. It’s just the stark comparison between these two couples that’s making me chuckle. In another clip from the Gwyneth interview, Gwynnie says that she and hubby Brad Falchuk celebrated their fifth anniversary (which no couple has ever achieved before) by eating oysters. Drew teasingly asks if the pair were naked while eating (I know, ew). Then she goes on to say, “you don’t want to see me and my guy on a date naked eating oysters, it’s not gonna look the same. But it’s gonna be funny, so funny!” Nothing says “I’m infatuated with you!” like declaring on national television that no one wants to see you naked except for laughs! I really hope at this point they’re on the same wavelength in terms of sense of humor, that he’s in on the joke. And I’d kinda love to know how the wedding date goes. Let’s hope they don’t serve oysters.
