Taking to Instagram to share her woes, newly-single Emmerdale star Charley Webb has admitted there are times when she “can’t switch her brain off” while living a hectic lifestyle.
The 35-year-old, who played Debbie Dingle for almost two decades before leaving soapland in 2021, confirmed her marriage split with Matthew Wolfenden via Instagram last week.
Now, in a new video on the app, she’s confided that stress has been taking its toll, explaining: “As you know, I’m working away at the moment and the juggle is real. The school, the kids, [son] Buster’s doing a show – it’s just been so much.”
She then referred to “times when I can’t switch my brain off as there’s so much going on at home”.
The anxious actress went on to reveal that she has been using CBD oil to get a good night’s sleep while performing in her new play, Quiz, across the country.

She recommended the remedy for “stress, anxiety… and constant overthinking”, hinting that these are struggles she’s personally experienced herself.
Last week, Charley announced that her marriage to fellow actor Matthew, with whom she shares three sons, is over.
She wrote on Instagram: “It is with love and respect that Matthew and I have decided to separate. We remain friends and our priority is the love for our children.”
Charley is also very busy in the midst of her first ever stage show, alongside Rory Bremner, who is playing Chis Tarrant in Quiz.

The theatre show relives the scandal of the “coughing major” on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, also known as contestant Charles Ingram.
He won £1 million worth of prize money but was later denied the cash following allegations of cheating, with claims that he’d been directed to the right answers via a member of the audience who had coughed at specific times.
The touring show insists new evidence has come to light, and is inviting viewers to answer the “ultimate 50/50” and come to their own conclusions about whether Ingram was guilty or not.
Quiz began in September and will end on December 2, but that’s not all that’s going on in Charley’s life professionally, as she also recently landed a gritty crime drama role in The Long Shadow.
The challenging ITV show re-enacts the story of notorious serial killer Peter Sutcliffe – also known as the Yorkshire Ripper – who murdered a total of 13 women before finally being arrested and jailed.
Charley plays police constable Anna Lawson, who dedicates her career to catching the killer – and the episodes screened have received rave reviews from fans.
Meanwhile, her former onscreen dad on Emmerdale, Jeff Hordley, has confessed he’s yearning for her to return to the soap in the future so they can make more memories together.
He told The Sun that he is still in regular contact with Charley, but believes she is now occupied with too many “other things”.
Nevertheless, he enthused: “There is always room for her to return – she was such a massive character in the show and such an important and integral character.
“She did so many fantastic storylines, it would be great to see her back!”
