Garrett Lockhart dead: Fans pay moving tribute to popular DJ i_o after he dies aged 30

DJ and producer i_o, real name Garrett Lockhart, has died aged 30 it has been confirmed. A statement was posted to his official Instagram account breaking the shocking news to fans.

Statement

The EDM artist reportedly passed away on Monday, but the statement didn’t give a cause of death.

The Instagram post read: “On Monday, November 23rd, the world lost a beautiful soul, Garrett Falls Lockhart, also known as i_o.

“This extremely talented spirit taught us that even if nothing matters, you can still lead with love.

“Garrett’s truth and soul lives on through the music he shared.”

It concluded: “Rest in peace Garrett. We love you.”

The Washington based DJ might also be known Fawks, performing for some time under that alias.

His most poplar tracks include Low, Death by Techno and Don’t Stop.

He also collaborated with Grimes on her track Violence, from her 2019 album Miss Anthropocene and with deadmau5 on his mau5trap album.

Despite having his own label Label 444, the techno and deep house producer had recently signed to Armada Music, one of the most prestigious dance music labels in the industry.

And only 10 days before his death he performed his first live show that had been put on hold for months due to coronavirus restrictions.

Following the terrible news, fellow DJs and fans alike rushed to social media to share their condolences with his family and recall memories of his previous gigs.

“RIP @i_oofficial GARRETT LOCKHART. You are a beautiful soul man I will really miss you,” DI Fresch penned on Twitter.

Another wrote: “We lost our day one today. You were there for us at our first events when we had 50 ppl in a little basement. We said f**k it and put on so many shows together before anyone even noticed.

“You made such a huge impact on the scene and changed it for good. RIP Garrett Lockhart.”

A third commemorated: “Part of me died today. I_o, Garrett Falls Lockhart. Love you. See you in the mountains one day.”

“Damn, another good one gone to soon, RIP Garrett Falls Lockhart,” said a fourth.

A fifth paid tribute: “May ur soul live on through ur music and continue to influence and push the fascination of how music is heard & made. Tho ur light may have gone out ur energy continues to live on.”(sic)

“My hearts heavy. Thank you for all the memories. RIP Garrett Falls Lockhart i_o,” a sixth shared.
