Gemma Atkinson has slammed an ex-boyfriend as a "liar" as she opens up about discovering that he had allegedly been cheating on her.
The former Hollyoaks actress, 38, who is now happily engaged to Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer Gorka Márquez, discussed the previous relationship on her podcast The Over Share.
Recalling how she discovered the ex had apparently been unfaithful while they were holidaying together, Gemma explained: "My ex was cheating on me and I found out on Instagram. A lovely lady DM'd me on Instagram when we were on holiday.
"I put a picture of a sunset on my grid and he stupidly put it as his WhatsApp profile picture and he told her he was in Florida with the lads and he was in the Bahamas."
Adding that both she and the other woman had no idea that the other existed, Gemma continued: "We were both kind of swept off our feet at the time by someone who we thought was wonderful but it turned out that he was a liar and just a really crappy person."
Gemma is now happily engaged to Gorka, 33, with whom she has welcomed two children, three year old daughter Mia, and newborn son Thiago.
After welcoming their baby son, Gemma opened up to OK! about becoming a mum for the second time, telling us: "It’s wonderful. It feels like we’ve always been a family of four, it’s bizarre how he’s slotted right in.
“We’re obviously exhausted but it’s that fun exhaustion whereby it doesn’t matter if you’ve not had a wash and your hair’s a mess, and we’re in our PJs."
She continued: "It's just nice. So we’re making the most of that lovely little bubble really. It’s been a lot more chilled this time. Your second one isn’t easier, but it’s more manageable because there are no firsts."
Like many celebrity mums, Gemma has fallen victim to online mum-shaming by trolls after she revealed that she had stopped breastfeeding Thiago at six weeks.
Gemma explained that breastfeeding was "exhausting" adding "less stressful" to feed little Thiago from the bottle as Gorka is often away in London for Strictly.
After being questioned on her decision, Gemma took to her Instagram Story, writing: "My choice to stop was because it was exhausting on my own.
"My boobs & back were quite sore and knowing I had school coming up for Mia and knowing Gorka would be away in London I knew it would be easier & less stressful on the bottle and I've always said that's how feeding should be."
She later added: "I know there’s a lot of judgment on mothers who bottle feed. There shouldn't be, but there is. My thoughts are "fed is best" and as long as the mum and baby are happy, that's what matters."
