Piers Morgan has slammed Joel Dommett after the comedian and presenter mocked him while hosting the National Television Awards.
Introducing the famous faces at the event Joel, 38, announced: "Piers Morgan is here!" which the crowd reacted to with a mixture of cheers and loud boos.
To which Joel continued: "Hey, everyone, say what you like about Piers Morgan…" before turning to introduce documentarian Louis Theroux.
Piers, 58, was nominated in the TV interviews category for his TalkTV show Piers Morgan Uncensored, although he missed out on taking the gong home with Graham Norton winning the award instead – another thing that Piers hit out at.
Following the event, Piers took to Twitter to share a number of complaints about the awards ceremony, as he wrote: "Got the Tube in searing heat.. got mocked by a host I’ve never heard of…
"Got booed by an audience of shrieking banshees… got beaten by Graham bloody Norton.. and now getting the first limo I can find to get the hell outta here. Thanks for a great night @OfficialNTAs [thumbs up emoji]"
Eagle-eyed Twitter users were quick to point out that Piers had previously interviewed Joel on Good Morning Britain following The Masked Singer host's stint on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2016.
Joel also trolled the GMB presenter back then, when Piers labelled him a "loser" to which he replied: "It’s okay. I prefer Jeremy Clarkson, too."
Speaking ahead of the ceremony Piers had told the Press Association that he wasn't particularly optimistic about his chances of winning, as he said: "They’d all rather shoot themselves then give me an award but, but if it’s just on interviews, hard to say that anyone else has had bigger ones that we’ve had in the last year."
Asked about the other nominees, he quipped: "I don’t have any competition."
Piers fared better at the TRIC awards earlier this year, where he took home the award for Interview of the Year.
Following his win he told the audience that he wanted to thank Meghan Markle as "without her contribution to my career", he wouldn't be at TalkTV.
And speaking to OK! exclusively after his win, Piers added: "Well, obviously without her I wouldn't be at Talk TV. So again, thank you, Meghan."
Back in 2021, Piers had stormed off the GMB following a row with contributor Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle, and it was later announced that he would be severing ties with ITV after he refused to apologise for his comments.
