Great British Bake Off: Sixth contestant to leave the competition

Great British Bake Off 2023: Sixth contestant to leave is announced after screwing up Technical challenge

Dana became the sixth contestant to leave The Great British Bake Off during Botanical week on Tuesday night.

The database Administrator from Essex, 25, managed to get to the sixth week in the competition but sadly was eliminated after coming in the bottom two of the Technical challenge.

Despite her gorgeous show-stopping design, the flavours weren’t up to standards of judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

The baker’s creativity was challenged with the tricky task of making bakes inspired by nature, starting with a spice-filled Signature, followed by a herby Technical and topped off with a floral dessert Showstopper.

The group were given four and a half hours to make an imaginative floral dessert, with any style but had to include a significant baked element.

Leaving on a positive note, Dana said: ‘Feel like I’ve smashed it week six, I’m just trying to think of all the fun I’ve had in the last six weeks.’

Josh received the incredible award of star baker with his impressive bakes in all three challenges.

Landing second place in the Technical challenge, Josh was thrilled for his bake.

Elsewhere in the episode, Christine came first in the Technical, making a ‘perfect’ lemon drizzle swirl cake.

Speaking about the result, she said: ‘I genuinely never thought id get first inthe technical’.

However, Tasha came last in the challenge making her Showstopper challenge crucial for getting a chance to stay in next week’s episode.

Speaking of her cake disaster, she said: ‘That was really bad, yeah I cant lie I feel sick about tomorrow. I’m not ready to go home’.

But Tasha came up trumps with her ‘delicious’ showstopper, a incredible 10 tier cake.

Amos, 43, was the first to leave the Bake Off while Keith, 60, was the second to leave the tent last week during week two’s episode.

Last weeks episode saw two bakers leave the tent as Nicky and Rowan were the fourth and fifth to leave the series in a double elimination.

Yorkshire-born Abbi first learned to bake alongside her mother, honing those early skills during her teens, when she became enthralled by the Victorian era and especially the traditional bakes of the time – steamed puddings, fruit cakes and more.

Now she takes her inspiration from her environment and the beautiful English countryside around her home.

A lover of the great outdoors, she forages for seasonal ingredients – the bigger and bolder, the better – and puts her homegrown veg to good use.

The Great British Bake Off returns on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
