James Martin took to social media earlier this week to say sorry to chef Mark Birchall, after he appeared on the former’s ITV programme for the very first time. The Saturday Morning star had to issue an apology to his guest after viewers crashed his website.

Mark is the chef at Moor Hall Restaurant – a two Michelin star eatery in Lancashire.

When he appeared on the programme, he delighted viewers when he showed them how to make grilled Cornish lobster with asparagus.

The mouth-watering dish was served with truffled grains, kohlrabi and green tomatoes.

James, 48, shared a picture of the duo on Instagram following his stint on the show.

“Ooopps his website just crashed …. sorry Mark ha ha,”(sic) he captioned the post, in view of his 635,000 followers.

“It’s all OK now I think ….thank you for watching the show,” the TV star added.

Many took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts, including the chef himself.

“Great problem to have! Thanks for having me,” he replied.

“Yes it did! I was trying to make a reservation for my birthday. Will keep trying,” one social media user who’d experienced problems wrote online.

“No wonder! That dish looked mega,” another viewer added.

Others said the technical issue was down to the “James Martin effect”.

“Brilliant! The James Martin effect [hands in the air emoji] Great to see Roux Scholar 2011 @markbirchal in action,” the message read.

Over on his own account, James, who runs The Kitchen at Chewton Glen, wished everyone in the industry good luck for the big day.

“Morning all … just a message to all who work in hospitality …

“Best of luck to you all reopening and to all the great people who work so hard to make this industry such a special one….,” he wrote.
