Jonnie Irwin goes on family holiday to Spain
Jonnie Irwin is taking a family holiday just a day after getting the all-clear from medics to return home from hospital.
In a video from the airport, the 49-year-old revealed in a quavering voice that he was “still slightly jaundiced” but looking forward to boarding a flight to southern Spain.
“I did clear it with my oncologist. He said, ‘Well, there are hospitals in Spain and in fairness, you don’t play it by the rules anyway’. But my thoughts are… that’s probably part of my success so far,” he exclaimed to his 230,000 Instagram followers.
“Fingers crossed my liver continues to get a bit better and me and my family, we wake up tomorrow morning to blue skies in southern Spain. Bon voyage to us!”
Jonnie, who is suffering from lung and brain cancer, came perilously close to death earlier in the year after being admitted to a hospice and believing he was “on the way out”.

Medical staff had warned they didn’t think he’d live to celebrate his twin boys’ birthday party days later – but they were proven wrong, as the former A Place in the Sun star defied expectations to make a recovery.
The travel and property expert is now daring to get back to what he loves best – jetting off abroad.
He captioned his Instagram video: “Time for some currant bun and a break from hospitals and builder and them a break from me!
“Thankfully a mate needs somewhere to crash so there’s someone to keep an eye on everyone whilst I’m away as it’s a big week on site too.”

Jonnie regards himself as someone “living with cancer” rather than dying from it, and despite being told his condition is terminal, he has vowed to live his life “to the full” for as long as possible.
He enjoys spending time with his kids – four-year-old son Rex, who has recently begun primary school, and three-year-old twin boys Rafa and Cormac – and their Costa del Sol trip is bound to be a bonding experience for the family.
The TV star, who is married to beloved wife Jessica Holmes, was inundated with support after posting his video earlier today, receiving over 16,000 likes in a matter of hours.
“Have the best time. Sunshine helps everything!” @coralievickers urged him.
@debbz63 chimed in: “Enjoy every moment with your beautiful family Jonnie!”, while other fans encouraged him to use the trip to celebrate his milestone 50th birthday, which falls this Saturday.
Meanwhile, earlier in the year, Jonnie touchingly revealed that he’d already bought his three kids their 18th birthday presents more than a decade early, to make sure they’ll have special mementoes to remember him by.
“It pains me to think the twins probably won’t remember me. You hear people say: ‘I don’t remember my dad. He died when I was so young’,” he agonised to Hello! magazine.
“I think about that and it breaks my heart because that’s what I’m destined to be, really – a footnote in their life. So I try to [build] monuments of my love for them.”
