Judi Dench performs Shakespeare sonnet
The Graham Norton Show viewers were left stunned last night after Judi Dench performed a sonnet.
The 88-year-old was on the Friday night chat show promoting her new memoir, Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays The Rent, when she suddenly broke into an impromptu performance.
Judi gave a dramatic reading of Sonnet 29, in the presence of fellow guests Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jay Blades and Jack Whitehall.
Viewers were spellbound by the incredible rendition and took to X, formerly known as Twitter to praise the actress.
One user wrote: “Shakespeare’s words and Judi Dench’s delivery, both so mesmerizing. Humans are capable of such beauty, which is hard to believe right now.

“Thank you for sharing this much needed reminder.”
Another viewer gushed: “Gave me goosebumps – beautiful, & no one does it better than Dame Judi Dench.”
A third person added: “Saturdays are for Shakespeare’s sonnets, and Dame Judi Dench slays on here.”
While a fourth said: “This is just wonderful. Shakespeare was obviously a genius, hence why he’s Shakespeare, but his work is elevated even further when performed of Judi Dench’s ability.”

Following Judi’s impeccable performance, Graham expressed: “That is spellbinding, it really is gorgeous.”
The audience let out a roaring applause in support of the Hollywood star’s delivery of the iconic sonnet.
Arnold joked: “That’s more dialogue than I’ve had in all my movies together.”
The Oscar winner recently revealed she forced herself to work following her husband’s death, tearfully adding: “It has helped me cope with the pain.”
Judi was married to her late husband Michael Williams for 30 years, before his tragic death in 2001.
Michael sadly lost his battle to lung cancer, which resulted in Judi using her work as a way to cope with her grief.
She said it was “unbelievably cathartic” to get lost in her job to avoid dwelling in her sadness.
The pair met during a theatre production of John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi. They welcomed daughter Tara Cressida Williams in 1972 – who has since become known as Finty Williams.
