Julia Bradbury: ‘I really would struggle’ Star speaks out on returning to Countryfile

Julia Bradbury, 48, fronted Countryfile with co-host Matt Baker, 41, for ten years and is keen to re-join the presenting team. However, the star also explained it would be difficult to reprise her role on the BBC programme “regularly”. The Julia Bradbury Walks host exclusively revealed to Express.co.uk: “I love Countryfile and I miss it, “I would definitely head back there as a guest if there was a particular story or there was something which would make sense for me to cover. I would be thrilled to do it and see the team again and get back into it.”

The mum-of-three admitted the show’s “intense schedule” is holding her back from committing to filming full-time.

She continued: “For me now, in terms of doing it regularly, life has moved on. I’ve got three children, I really would struggle.

“It’s an intense schedule and if you look at how it’s grown and developed over the years, when Matt Baker and I took it to that Sunday night slot all those years ago, which we were very proud to do together.

“If you look at the number of presenters that go on Countryfile there’s a squadron!

“It’s a big team and you need that size of team because people could get burnt out doing that intensely week after week.”

Meanwhile, Julia reflected on her on-screen partnership with her Countryfile co-star Matt.

She divulged to Express.co.uk: “He’s my favourite TV husband.”

The candid admission prompted Julia to backtrack quickly as she took the opportunity to give credit to her other male co-hosts.

The presenter added: “That doesn’t mean that I don’t love all my other TV husbands, just in case they see this!

“Ben Shephard might box him or something! Calm yourselves boys!”

Going back to The One Show star, Julia explained: “I really miss working alongside Matt.

“He is a friend, we see each other and talk to each other regularly and he’s godfather to one of my twin girls.”

The Britain’s Favourite Walks presenter then revealed her hopes to work with him again.

She said: “I hope that one day we get to do something again together, I really hope we somehow get paired back up.”

Julia announced her departure from the Countryfile lineup in 2014 and most recently fronted her own ITV series, Australia with Julia Bradbury.

The nature enthusiast also credited the show for being a therapeutic influence in her life, as she recalled: “All throughout that period I was filming Countryfile and I took plenty of time out to breathe in and think through my problems.

“So the outdoors has been very therapeutic for me and continues to be.”
