Kerry Katona says Kate Garraway must remain positive as husband Derek Draper remains in hospital following coronavirus

Kerry Katona has urged Kate Garraway to remain positive amid her husband Derek Draper’s ongoing battle to recover from coronavirus and the recent scary incident where her tyre exploded on the motorway.

Kerry, 39, praised I'm A Celeb star Kate for being strong for her two children and revealed that she is praying for Derek and rooting for his recovery.

Writing in her column in new magazine , mum-of-five Kerry wrote: “My heart goes out to Kate Garraway – a tyre blowout on the motorway last week was surely the last thing she needed.

“I’m all about keeping a positive mindset, but that must be so difficult for her right now. Kate’s a strong ’un, though, and she has two kids who rely on her.

“I know full well how hard it can be to put on a brave face for the children, but you just have to.

“I’m praying for Kate’s husband Derek, who remains in a serious condition in hospital thanks to the coronavirus, but I know it’ll all be OK. Kate has to believe that. We’re rooting for you both.”

Kate, 53, recently opened up on the terrifying moment her tyre exploded on a motorway with her two children in the the car.

The Good Morning Britain host was travelling back from a weekend out of London with her daughter Darcey, 14, and son Billy, 10, when the incident took place.

It was Kate’s first trip out of London since her husband, Derek was hospitalised due to coronavirus in March.

Speaking on ITV breakfast show GMB, Kate said: "It was that moment when you suddenly think, 'I can't control the car'."

She continued: "I managed to pull over, but the section of the motorway I was on, there was no hard shoulder and they [my children] couldn't get out of the car."

Posting about the moment to her 918,000 Instagram followers, Kate wrote: "Thanks to our amazing saviours Liz & Mark from @kentpoliceuk who rescued me after a full tyre blow out on the motorway!!!

"Never had one before – utterly terrifying. Managed to keep control of car but couldn't get off motorway as no hard shoulder & when the AA said they couldn't come for an hour, then rang after half an hour to say might still be an hour had no choice but to call the police.

"They were so brilliant and got us to safety and we are now on way home in taxi, shaken but safe, tow truck on way to car.

"It's first time have taken kids out without Derek too, but we are safe and will update you fully on @gmb with @benshephardofficial tomorrow from 6 a.m."
