Kevin Spacey to be charged with further seven sexual offences says CPS

Hollywood star Kevin Spacey, 50, is set to be charged with a further seven sexual offences, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has announced today.

These charges include three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, Rosemary Ainslie, stated: “The CPS has authorised additional criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 63, for a number of sexual assaults against one man between 2001 and 2004.

“The authority to charge follows a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”jury.

The earlier charges, authorised in May by the CPS, included four offences of sexual assault and one offence of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

Mr Spacey was in court at the Old Bailey in July to deny the allegations.

The two-time Oscar-winner was artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London from 2004-15.

Mr Spacey is best known for his roles in American Beauty, The Usual Suspects and other award-winning films.

He has also appeared in fan-favourite films like Baby Driver, L.A. Confidential and Working Girl.

From 2013 to 2017, Mr Spacey starred as Frank Underwood in the Netflix political drama series House of Cards, which won him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama and two consecutive Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series as well as five consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
