Krishnan Guru-Murthy has lifted the lid on this year’s “pretty active” Strictly Come Dancing group chat.
According to the 53-year-old, the WhatsApp group allows celebrities such as himself, Bobby Brazier and Zara McDermott to stay in touch during the week and offers support after “a bad moment”.
Discussing the purpose of the chat, Krishnan said: “We come together on a Friday, but we’re all in touch during the week because we’ve got a WhatsApp group.
“As soon as someone is having a bad moment, they’ll go on the group and say, ‘I’m having a terrible day’ and everyone else will pile in with their own experiences and advice, or Angela Rippon will tell you about her cryotherapy chamber.”
As well as using the digital space to uplift one another, the BBC contestants reportedly use it to “share information, support, jokes and gags”.

“We genuinely care about each other – there’s a lot of care and affection. We’re all getting along really, really well,” he told Bella magazine.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Channel 4 newsreader claimed that as well as having a solid relationship with his fellow Strictly stars, he enjoys speaking to the show’s judges.
This year, the panel is manned by Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas.
Krishnan said about the quartet: “I find their comments so intelligent and helpful. They’re giving us constructive advice that I then take away and go, ‘Right I’ve got to do something about that’.”
The journalist’s comments regarding the ‘caring’ Strictly cast come after a reported feud between Giovanni Pernice and Amanda Abbington. The latter pulled out of competing for the Glitterball Trophy earlier this week.
It’s claimed that Amanda, 49, found the 33-year-old’s “aggressive training style” and general attitude towards rehearsals “pretty difficult to handle.”

A source allegedly continued to tell The Sun that Giovanni was “militant in his approach to training” and that Strictly had become “more stressful” than Amanda could have imagined.
However, the pair denied that they were embroiled in a feud via social media, with the professional dancer previously writing to his one million Instagram followers: “I usually don’t say these things early (as probably everybody know) but I’m extremely proud of you and I can’t wait for people to watch what we have created.”
During an episode of Strictly: It Takes Two, the Sherlock actor continued to shut down rumours of the reported rift and claimed the pair “laugh a lot”.
“We have the same sense of humour which is really important. So we’ll come out, work hard, and then we just laugh don’t we,” she told host Janette Manrara in September.
At the time, Giovanni agreed and replied: “We do have a good time, but at the same time, obviously we have to do our dance. It’s a difficult process, especially for people who have never done it Strictly before.
“I always say, ‘It’s a marathon, not a sprint.’ The first few weeks are difficult, it is difficult, it’s a lot of hours to train, a lot of hours to be concentrating but then when you get to Saturday and do what you did.”
On Monday (23 October), Fleur East revealed that Amanda had quit Strictly Come Dancing after pulling out of performing her Cha Cha Cha to ‘Canned Heat’ by Jamiroquai.
After introducing It Takes Two, the 35-year-old broke the news: “We’ve received the news that Amanda is not returning to Strictly.”
She then went out to read a statement from a BBC spokesperson: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.”
While Amanda and Giovanni will not perform on Strictly this weekend, Krishnan and professional partner Lauren are due to hit the dancefloor for the sixth time.
After receiving a score of 30 for their Quickstep to ‘The Lady Is A Tramp’ by Frank Sinatra, the couple will be hoping to impress the judges again on Saturday.
Tune into Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday on BBC One at 6.40pm.
