Pop band Little Mix has broken down in tears as they performed their final gig before taking a well earned hiatus.
Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall went out on a high on Saturday evening as the girls performed their penultimate gig at London’s O2 Arena.
Appearing on stage to the backdrop of explosive rainbow fireworks and toe-tapping music, the crowd could be heard cheering with glee as the girls performed a set of their smash hit songs Shout Out To My Ex, Heartbreak Anthem and Break Up Song.
The hyped up vibe continued well into the show’s second set, Secret Love Song Part II, which saw the entire arena illuminated by glowing smartphones swaying in time to the lyrics of the much loved tracks.
Yet it wasn’t just about the music in today’s farewell show, as the girls also paid a heartfelt tribute to each other and the crazy journey they’ve been on since first forming.
As reported by The Sun, appearing alongside Leigh-Anne and Perrie on an elevated platform, Jade told the audience: “We’ve laughed together, cried together.”
“We have got each other through some of the darkest times of our lives, and created some of the most amazing memories, and we love each other so much.”
Interjecting to offer her own thoughts, a tearful Perrie then said: “I need to contain myself because this is going to be, like, a really ugly cry! The love we have for each other is ridiculous."
“I want to take this moment to say to Jade and Leigh-Anne, I love you more than anything — and I can’t thank you enough for the past ten years of my life.”
“You’ve been my rock, you’ve been my shoulder to cry on, I really appreciate it and I love you so, so much.”
Addressing the crowd once again, Perrie went on: “You guys, we love you so, so much. We want to leave you with a very special song. It’s essentially a love song for each other."
"It’s about our journey but we can never get through it without crying. So, London, can you help us get through this one?”
As the crowd gave a loud and expressive cheer, the girls once again launched into another song, Between Us.
Throughout the performance the singers were momentarily speechless as they fought back the tears, but thankfully the audience was on hand to fill in the blanks as part of a collaborative celebration of all things Little Mix.
Taking a moment to recompose themselves, the trio were back on fine form for the final act, where they performed hit after hit including Hit The Floor and Salute, finishing off with Sweet Melody.
That one detail aside, the girls hung up their microphones on a high for the final time, with fans now left to await their return at a later date.
