Love Islands Abigail Rawlings cried on way to airport and felt overwhelmed

Love Island's Abigail Rawlings has revealed she found life after being on the hit ITV programme quite "overwhelming".

The 27 year old, who recently showed fans how to create her top villa looks, opened up about how she's adapted to life after the dating show in an exclusive chat with OK! Online.

The tattoo artist explained that things have been "up and down" as she struggled to get used to people recognising her on the street.

"When I first came out I found it a little bit overwhelming. Probably more overwhelming than I expected. But I soon came to grips with it. It's been a lot of fun, very full on but I am very happy and grateful," she told us.

Speaking further on the negative aspects of finding fame, she went on: "The downs would just be with me personally, when I first came out I felt quite overwhelmed just being recognised by people on the street.

"Obviously, it's a naive thing for me to say that. But it happened.

"You go on Love Island, you're going to be recognised. I just think I didn't quite realise how many people would recognise me and I found it quite scary."

However, Abigail said it's done her some good because she's "grown" from the experience and faced her fears.

The TV personality, who had backed her former flame Toby Aromolaran and Chloe Burrows to win, said: "I've grown as a person from it now, it's made me face the fear that I found myself encountered with. So that was a low.

"But now it's a high because I feel like I'm riding the Love Island wave and starting to really enjoy getting to know strangers and talking to people on the street because it's nice."

Abigail went on to explain how positive the response has been to her time in the villa and recalled how she even shed a few tears reading the lovely messages from people.

She said: "It's quite overwhelming the love and support I've experienced. It was crazy, when I first got given my phone back I actually cried in the taxi on the way to the airport because I just couldn't believe the amount of love I was receiving.

"Obviously when you don't know what's going on in the real world, I got a bit anxious because I was like, 'Oh god, I've been pied twice on the national telly, I'm probably going to be a meme that's going around,' but instead I was welcomed with people being really supportive and it being relatable."
