Lydia Bright – ‘Mum shaming trolls don’t hurt me – I won’t stop sharing the reality’

Former TOWIE star Lydia Bright often shares her journey of motherhood on social media – the highs and the lows.

And now, the 32-year-old, who is mum to three-year-old daughter Loretta, has addressed the negative comments she gets, admitting that while she finds them "frustrating", she also "understands" where they come from.

She told us: "It is frustrating when I see any on my posts, but I also understand them in a way. Before I had Loretta I had a much more polished and glossy feed of images, and now I’m posting about motherhood.

"I have a different audience now. I have a lot of mums following me so I want things to be authentic, including ups and downs. That will naturally split opinions though. The majority of people are kind, but you do get the odd negative message."

But no matter how much criticism Lydia might receive, posting the trials and tribulations on her Instagram is something she'll never stop doing.

"I'll always share the reality of being a mum because, for me, that wouldn't feel right if I didn't," Lydia continued.

Not caring about what other people think, Lydia admitted, is a motto she's trying to live her life by. And as long as her mum Debbie believes she's a good parent, that's all that matters.

She explained: "The only person whose opinion matters to me is my mum – she’s well equipped with raising children. If she says I’m doing a good job, then that’s all that matters."

It was earlier this year that Lydia was mum-shamed for allowing her young daughter to run on a sofa while at an event.

At the time, she took to Instagram to share a clip of Loretta, explaining that the little one was feeling “energised” after taking a nap.

However, after sharing the short video, doting mum Lydia revealed that she’d received some comments from people who had questioned why she’d let her daughter stand on the sofas.

Defending herself, Lydia gushed over her daughter and said that she was “an extrovert” and that she wouldn’t discipline her child for her personality.
