Terrifying: Ashley James has opened up on an ‘awful experience’ which saw a stranger die in front of her during a family break in Belgium
She wrote: ‘Hello, I just want to check in. We’re on a family European road trip. We dreamt about travelling during Tommy’s paternity leave with Alfie, but it ended up being lockdown. So anyway, here we are now.
‘I’ve got so much to catch you all up on, but let me begin by saying Bruges is beautiful. So so beautiful. A little stressful with two babies – we spend most of the time saying how we can’t wait to come back on our own as it’s so romantic, but I’m so happy to be here creating memories with the littles.
‘We had an awful experience though. I can’t stop thinking about it, and I’ve not really known whether to share it or not. I still don’t know. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I still don’t know.
‘TW: Death.
‘A man died in our hotel. Tommy and Alf went out in the morning and left Ada and I in our room. Our room was about 10 steps up some stairs and at the bottom of the stairs was another room.
‘I went downstairs and there was a man getting CPR at the bottom. I ran back up but I heard everything. I won’t go into details, but I’m sure you can imagine it wasn’t a nice thing to hear and witness. I feel so sorry for all his loved ones.
‘Tommy couldn’t get into the hotel and I couldn’t get out of the room, and for a split second Tommy thought it could have been Ada or I as I’d misplaced my phone.
‘Anyway, it is Definitely a reminder of how precious life is. How we shouldn’t go to bed angry with people we love. Of how short life can be. It keeps replaying in my mind.

‘And also, wow, paramedics are just heroes aren’t they. ❤️
‘For now I guess I just want to say, life is too short to not be doing that thing you want to do… hug your loved ones. And try not to go to bed upset with anyone. ❤️’
It comes after Ashley revealed her period returned, nearly four months after giving birth to her second child.
The Made In Chelsea star, 36, admitted that she was ‘in mourning’ over its return as it implied her body ‘wasn’t in the newborn stage anymore’ after welcoming her daughter Ada in March.
In a video posted on her Instagram Stories, Ashley told her followers that her period’s return ‘hit her like a ton of bricks’ and has made her feel ‘physically disgusting.’
She said in the clip: ‘Basically my period came back really unexpectedly while I’m still breastfeeding, and not only did I expect it, but it’s hit me like a ton of bricks emotionally.
‘I feel really down but also weirdly I feel like physically disgusting, so I just feel like my whole headspace is just flat so I’m just tryng to ride it out.

‘I guess it’s kind of like mourning because my body isn’t in that newborn baby stage anymore, but yeah I’m here and I’m fine but yeah it’s just hit me like a ton of bricks.’
In the caption for her post, Ashley added: ‘Wow, first period after childbirth… I don’t remember if being such a trip!
‘I just feel full of self-loathing. I’m picking apart my body (which I never really do anymore), my entire personality, my entire life and life choices. It’s a lot.
‘I’m just acknowledging that it’s because of the hormones and going with the flow (literally).’
