Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan ‘shamed’ over Christmas decor at £3.5m mansion

Ex-TOWIE star Mark Wright and former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan’s Christmas decor has proved divisive after angry fans accused them of flaunting their fairy lights while some struggled with the cost of living crisis.

The showbiz couple moved into their magnificent mansion last September, which comes complete with a large outdoor pool area and has been compared to the type of pad more often seen in Hollywood than in the UK.

A video of the property surfaced on the couple’s designated @wrightyhome account, showing it completely covered in fairy lights and tinsel, while life-size glittery reindeer and multiple Christmas trees decked out with decorations stood in front of it.

Though the new look has been a hit with some, one fan branded it “too early”, while another exclaimed: “Sorry but most of the country are nearly on poverty line and they put this on!”

“Omg your electric meter will be going mad lol,” a third viewer cringed, while a fourth wrote: “Love it when the rich folk rub in to people who are starving on the streets.” (sic)

However, Joe Wicks, also known as The Body Coach, praised the couple: “What a magnificent gaf. I’ve loved every single minute of this IG account. Keep it coming!”(sic)

Others branded it “magical”, while one impressive fan teased: “I wondered why all the flights to Stansted were heading in the wrong direction!”

Mark and Michelle have openly documented the renovation process while turning their lavish house into a home over recent months, sharing the delight they take in their home gym, bar, cinema room and pool.

Meanwhile, Mark’s paid promotions for brands like Waitrose – including a video filmed of himself raving about the supermarket’s mince pie range earlier this month – have been recorded at the house.

He and Michelle also famously splashed out on a bespoke bed with a pop-up TV built in, which they proudly shared on Instagram.

It looks as though they are enjoying the plush pad, but their “extravagance” has been brought into question after the fairy lights were switched on.

Mark and Michelle haven’t spent much time in their Essex home lately, after enjoying breaks away in Bali, Majorca and Dubai over the last couple of months alone.

However, in the lead-up to Christmas, they may be planning to spend more quality time there, with Mark recently revealing in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk that this is the season when he knuckles down in the gym to hone his famous abs.

He explained that while many are giving in to the temptation of sweet treats in the lead-up to Christmas and abandoning their diet in favour of festive parties, he’s doing things in reverse.

“I normally use summer as sort of my chill time – going to beer gardens, on holiday and whatever else… [but later in the year], that’s when I really wanna push on!” he declared.

He continued: “I know a lot of people admit to falling off the bandwagon when it comes to the gym [and stop going] from like October onwards.

“Obviously people wanna sleep in more and snooze the alarm because it’s dark outside, it’s colder, but actually, this is the time when I always get back on it.”

Mark’s training is expected to include spending time on the football pitch on the grounds of his mansion, as well as his in-house gym, while he’ll be sipping on protein drinks from GetPRO, with whom he has recently collaborated.

Though the couple’s no expenses spared house renovation has left some green with envy, others have congratulated them for getting into the Christmas spirit, saying it’s never too early to start the festivities.
