Marvel Studios drops Jonathan Majors after assault conviction

Jonathan Majors, the star of several Marvel films, has been dropped by the company following a guilty verdict in a domestic violence trial.

The actor was found guilty of one charge of assault and harassment after his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari was found unconscious in their flat.

Majors, who is 34 years old, faced four charges including assault and harassment.

He was found guilty of one charge of assault and harassment but not guilty of another assault charge and a further harassment charge.

A source close to Marvel Studios has confirmed to Variety that the actor has been dropped.

The incident happened on March 25 where Majors was arrested after police found Jabbari with a cut behind her ear and a bruised, broken finger in their flat.

Jabbari said that Majors hurt her during a fight in a car hours before and said the fight started when she saw a text on his phone that said “Oh how I wish to be kissing you.”

When she tried to take his phone, he allegedly hurt her finger and hit her head to stop her.

Majors has pleaded not guilty to all four charges. These charges come from New York, not against Jabbari.

Majors was found guilty of two out of the four charges on Monday. He turned up in court with his girlfriend, Meagan Good, and family as he heard the charges.

Priya Chaudry, Major’s lawyer, insists that Majors is innocent.

In the courtroom, she stated, “[Majors] called 911 out of concern for her, and his fear of what happens when a Black man in America came true.”

On the other hand, Brittany Henderson, Jabbari’s lawyer, believes that “justice has been served.”

Majors was originally going to appear in future Marvel films as Kang the Conqueror, but due to recent charges, he won’t be appearing in those works.

It’s still unclear if Marvel will replace the part or get rid of it completely.

Majors became well-known due to his role as Atticus Freeman in Lovecraft Country, the 2020 television series.

Other roles include When We Rise (2017), White Boy Rick (2018), and The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019).
