Massive Attack guitarist Angelo Bruschini dies after lung cancer battle

Angelo Bruschini has died aged 44 after a battle with lung cancer, the band confirmed.

Massive Attack wrote on X: “RIP Angelo. A singularly brilliant & eccentric talent.

“Impossible to quantify your contribution to the Massive Attack canon. How lucky we were to share such a life together.”

In another tribute shared via Instagram, they shared a photo of the guitarist as they admitted being “devastated”.

Angelo also played for a number of other bands, including The Numbers and Rimshots.

The Blue Aeroplanes, where Angelo was also a member, paid tribute to their “brother”.

They said: “We are devastated to announce the passing of our brother Angelo Bruschini.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. Rest In Peace Ange x.”

Angelo joined the group in the 1990s.

In a social media post in July, Bruschini wrote that he had been suffering from lung cancer and that several specialists had wished him “good luck”.

He wrote: ‘Twice now I have been told ‘”Good luck'” by specialists at the hospital over lung cancer, I think I’m f***ed!’

“Had a great life, seen the world many many times, met lots of wonderful people, but the door is closing, think I will write a book.”
