Miriam Margolyes says she has previously turned down chances to appear on Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The 82-year-old made the revelations during a recent recording of Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s award-winning podcast, Dish from Waitrose.
After chatting about her book, Oh Miriam! Stories from an Extraordinary Life, the Harry Potter actor revealed that both BBC and ITV bosses had come knocking.
“I only wrote it because they offered me a lot of money,” Miriam admitted. “That’s true, that’s absolutely true.
“Well, when you’re old and you know that your earning potential is diminishing, you’ve got to get the money while you can.

“I won’t do that, what do you call it? The dancing thing.”
Nick, 39, pointed out that the show that the star was referring to was Strictly, before Angela, 55, asked: “Strictly. They asked you to do that a few times?”
Miriam replied: “Yeah, they must have been f*****g nuts. And they asked me to go in the jungle.”
When asked if passing on I’m A Celeb… was a “hard no”, the author said: “I’ve got class, love. I’m not doing that”.
She further claimed that instead of competing for the Glitterball Trophy and taking part in the Bushtucker Trials, she had decided to get cracking on her memoir.
“I thought, ‘I’ll write a book’,” she added.

Elsewhere in the conversation, the 82-year-old discussed being her authentic self and where she gets her bold confidence from.
She stated: “I’ve never had total confidence. I think I have always felt that people would like me. Because I know that I’m a nice person.
“I don’t want to hurt or confound anybody, I just want to relax people. But I do like to astonish them sometimes.”
She also admitted that she often says things that are a “bit naughty” because people’s reactions allow her to “get nearer to them a little bit”.
The revelations come just weeks after Miriam issued a health update regarding her recent heart operation.
Appearing on season 16 of Jessie and Lennie Ware’s Table Manners Podcast, the star discussed having a transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) to improve the blood flow to the heart.
“I’ve got a cow’s heart now,” she explained. “Well, not the whole heart. I’ve had an aortic valve replaced by a cow’s aortic valve.
“I don’t know how common it is… But it saves you from having open heart surgery, which would be infinitely more invasive.”
Explaining the procedure, Miriam told the mother-daughter duo that surgeons made “two little holes” in her groin and “shoved” the aortic valve through.
“And then when it comes to the point, when it’s in your heart, they pull a little string and it goes pow! And lo and behold, your artery or your aortic valve is shoved unceremoniously to the side.”
Earlier this year, the Romeo + Juliet actor also announced that she thinks about death “every day” due to her health.
She said: “When you’re young, you never think about death. You just think about your next f**k basically. I think about death a lot.”
Miriam continued to tell Vogue that “every morning” when she gets up she thinks that today is another day which she “wasn’t expecting”.
