Oti Mabuse works out with Sensory Processing Disorder
Pregnant Oti Mabuse admitted that pregnancy complications were keeping her awake at night, as she revealed she has been diagnosed with Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD).
The 33-year-old Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice legend has been realistic from the beginning about the possible pitfalls of pregnancy, particularly about changes to her body and skin – but her latest pain has now become intense.
According to the NHS website, SPD is a condition caused by stiff pelvic joints and can make it agonisingly painful for pregnant women to get around.
Taking to Instagram, she confided to her 664,000 followers alongside a workout video: “I completely fell off the bandwagon with my fitness and I immediately could feel it when I went back.
“My core strength was not what it was, my balance was off and my ability to hold certain positions was gone.”

Sharing a workout video, she continued: “The pain started really slow but at night while sleeping would intensify (I’m not wearing a belt yet but as weeks go on I definitely will).”
Revealing how her pregnancy routine is developing, Oti explained: “Aside from physiotherapy exercises, I still try to continue to stay active in any way that is not painful.
“My level of activity depends on how severe my SPD is that day. It can be very frustrating if you used to exercise regularly and have to stop. Walking, sitting, driving all become a bit painful.
“But we push on and grant ourselves some GRACE! Taking it slow and breathing through everything – Change is good, it might be difficult but it’s all for a good reason.”

She then appealed to fans who had experienced the same problem to tell her how they’d been dealing with it, reasoning: “I know I’m not alone.”
Her frank conversation about pelvic pain comes just weeks after she and Marius announced live on her ITV breakfast show that they are expecting the patter of tiny feet.
It isn’t the first time that she admitted concerns about her pregnancy to followers, previously joking that she was terrified of looking like “Fiona from Shrek”, amid her bodily changes.
“Lips look like you’ve had unnecessary Botox, skin develops extreme acne, complexion darkens. We simply turn into Fiona from Shrek!” she quipped.
Fortunately, Oti still has a smile on her face in spite of her pelvic discomfort, having told the world that she was due to host the Inspiring Women awards show last night.
She wrote on her page, alongside a snap of herself bashfully smiling: “Always proud to host anything that celebrates and uplifts women especially in underrepresented sectors.”
Oti placed her hands protectively over her pelvis as she cradled her rapidly growing bump, and looked radiant as she attempted to rise above the pain.
This morning, she seemed in equally high spirits, posting a snap of herself with her husband in the background and declaring: “That Feel Good Friday feeling!”
