Universal Music Group has revealed that British Rock legends Queen‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody” has become the 20th century’s most streamed song across all major streaming platforms.
“‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is one of the greatest songs by one of the greatest bands in history. We are so proud to represent Queen and are thrilled to see the song still inspiring new fans around the world more than four decades after its release,” said the Chairman and CEO of UMG, Lucian Grainge.
Having gained more than 1.6 billion streams earlier this week, the 1975 track has also claimed the throne of the most-streamed Classic Rock song of all time, outranking classics like Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Guns N’ Roses‘ “Sweet Child O’Mine.”
“So the River of Rock Music has metamorphosed into streams! Very happy that our music is still flowing to the max!” said Queen’s guitarist, Brian May in a recent statement.
