Rebecca Adlington has shared the heartbreak she and her husband Andrew Parsons have suffered after losing their baby.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist took to social media late on Sunday evening to break the news with her 114,000 Instagram followers.
In a text-based update to her feed, the 34-year-old wrote: “I don’t really have the words right now but unfortunately we went for our 20-week scan this week and they discovered no heartbeat.
“I gave birth to our angel, Harper on Friday at 7pm. We held her, and had time with her.”
Heartbreakingly, the retired swimmer continued: “We will forever love and remember her always.”

Since posting, fans have taken to the comments section to offer their condolences to the Olympian and her partner.
One Instagram user wrote: “Oh Becky, darling. Sending you all of our love, we are thinking of you. If only that were enough. I’m so deeply sorry and am thinking of you both and of precious beautiful Harper x.”
“This is so heartbreaking for you all. I know myself there are no words for you. Be kind to yourself and seek (sic) support in those loved ones close to you,” said a second.
Another social media user commented: “What a tragedy after everything you’ve been (sic) through. So sorry to read this, sending love and strength. Always here to listen if you ever need an ear or someone to just sit with while you go through this.”

As well as fans, famous faces have come out in their droves to lend their support to the couple as well as children Summer, eight, and Albie, two. Rebecca shares the former with ex-husband Harry Needs, and the latter with Andy.
English swimmer and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Adam Peaty said: “I’m so sorry to hear this, my prayers are with you all.”
Emily Clarkson commented: “I am so so so sorry for you Becky, sending you all of my love xxxxxxxxxxx.”
Sports broadcaster and journalist Orla Chennaoui said: “Oh my love I am so, so desperately sorry. Sending all of you all my love.”
The devastating news comes just weeks after the I’m A Celeb star announced that she and Andrew were expecting again.
On September 1, the 34-year-old took to Instagram and posted a series of pictures of herself and her family at Disneyland Paris. In the snaps, Rebecca’s family could be seen with their hands on her bump.
In the comments section, she wrote: “Our own bit of magic. Baby number 3 on the way.”
