Russell Simmons will have to face his rape accuser in court, according to the Blast.
Back in December the Def Jam mogul asked an LA court to toss a suit brought against him by a Jane Doe who claimed that he raped her in 1988.
Simmons’ lawyers claimed that he didn’t have to answer the suit, according to the site, because the accuser didn’t give a specific date for the alleged incident.
But the judge rejected the claim, and gave Simmons 20 days to reply to the claim.
The accuser — who alleges that Simmons raped her in a hotel room — is seeking $10 million in damages.
Simmons denies the allegations.
His attorneys say that she filed the suit “for purposes of publicity” and as an attempt “to extort large sums of money from Mr. Simmons and for her lawyer to try to make a name for himself.”
Beginning in November 2017, Simmons has been accused of sexual misconduct — including rape and attempted rape — by some 12 women.
He has denied all of it.
