Saweetie is fast becoming one of the most prolific and in-demand rappers in the game, following high-profile collaborations with the likes of Doja Cat (on “Best Friend”) and Little Mix (on “Confetti”).
As The Things notes, Saweetie dropped her debut single, “Icy Girl” in 2017 and it was so popular online that Warner Records – who represent the likes of Brandy, Cher, and Dua Lipa – immediately snapped her up. The Santa Clara, Calif. native very quickly went from uploading music to SoundCloud for free to charting on Billboard alongside predecessors such as Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion.
Saweetie is a smart businesswoman with her eye firmly on the bottom line. She’s got a taste for the finer things in life too, and funding her love of designer bags and luxury cars doesn’t come easily. Thankfully, the proud Californian is savvy about branding herself in such a way that all the checks come straight to her. Unsurprisingly, then, Saweetie has earned a considerable amount during her comparatively short time in the spotlight.
Saweetie is definitely living the high life
According to The Things, Saweetie makes most of her money through her music, including writing songs for other people. She’s also got plenty of lucrative partnerships with the likes of Fashion Nova and Pretty Little Thing, with whom she reportedly signed a deal worth millions, while, in 2018, the savvy rapper launched her ICY label in conjunction with Artistry and Warner, ensuring she earns considerably more from record sales.
Her track “My Type,” released in June 2019, sold more than 2 million copies in the States alone and peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. Although plans for her debut album were scuppered by the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s clear nothing will stop Saweetie from making her mark.
She also collaborated with makeup brand Morphe on a collection called Backstage With Saweetie, as per Elle. It’s hardly a shock to learn the star studied business in university, graduating with a 3.6 GPA, (via The Things). However, although Saweetie enjoys flashing the cash, when she shared shots of her riding a private jet in 2020, many fans questioned how she could afford it. “Where she getting this money from,” wrote one person, as per Cheat Sheet. It’s worth noting, however, as The Things reports, in 2018, Saweetie had a net worth between $100,000 to $1 million but, within a year, Trend Celebs Now put her at closer to $1 — $2 million. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the updated figure is closer to $4 million. I know that’s right!
