Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne have moved back to their UK country mansion so the rocker can battle his Parkinson’s disease ‘in private’

Sharon Osbourne has revealed she and Ozzy have moved back ‘home’ to the UK so he can have ‘some privacy’ as he battles with Parkinson’s disease.

The 71-year-old said she began feeling ‘uncomfortable’ in Los Angeles and hopes moving to a ‘little town’ will allow her husband to pursue hobbies without being bothered.

The former X Factor judge said despite spending over 20 years in the States, she’s not an American and has missed the British culture and lifestyle.

Sharon told the Woman’s Hour podcast: ‘As we change over time, so do places.

‘For me, personally, LA has changed – but not for the better. It’s not what it used to be.

Back in Britain: Sharon Osbourne, 71, has revealed she and Ozzy, 75, have moved back ‘home’ to the UK so he can have ‘some privacy’ as he battles with Parkinson’s disease

‘I just feel uncomfortable there right now.

‘My family will still be there so we will go back and fourth I’m sure, but our main place – we have switched it from being LA to England.’

In January 2020, Black Sabbath legend Ozzy Osbourne revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis during an interview on Good Morning America.

His wife said this contributed to the decision to move home, adding: ‘A lot of it is for Ozzy to be able to live with some privacy.

‘Because, where we live in the countryside, it’s not full of paps and you know, it’s not a busy little town.

‘We have a lot of land so he will be able to walk around and pursue his hobbies that he loves doing without being bothered.’

The couple have moved to Buckinghamshire from California, USA.

She added: ‘It’s home, it’s always been home, I don’t think I’m very American and I just feel more at home here.

‘It’s just time. I miss the culture here, the lifestyle.

‘I mean look at it now – at Christmas time – it’s magnificent here.

‘It’s so special and you go and have Christmas in LA – it’s sunny, it’s not festive, they have one dusty old father Christmas in a sleigh.

‘It just isn’t festive at all.’

It comes after Ozzy said he refuses to perform on stage in a wheelchair.

The Black Sabbath frontman, due to turn 75 in December, has been struggling to recover from back surgeries and is battling a rare form of Parkinson’s that has forced him to repeatedly pull out of his scheduled gigs.

He told Rolling Stone about his refusal to get on stage while he’s suffering and frail: ‘I’m not going to get up there and do a half-hearted Ozzy looking for sympathy.

‘What’s the point in that? I’m not going up there in a wheelchair.

‘I’ve seen Phil Collins perform recently, and he’s got virtually the same problems as me.

‘He gets up there in a wheelchair! But I couldn’t do that.’

Phil, 72, has appeared on stage in a wheelchair after saying he can now barely hold a drumstick in the wake of a spinal injury he suffered in 2007.

Ozzy added to Rolling Stone he hates the feeling he hasn’t been able to have a proper goodbye with his fans during a concert as his illnesses forced him to abruptly pull out of a string of scheduled gigs.

But he still hopes to get well enough to mount farewell concerts.

He said: ‘That’s one of the things I’ve been the most (annoyed) at: I never got the chance to say goodbye or thank you.

‘Because my fans are what it’s all about. If I can just do a few gigs… they’ve been loyal to me for years.’
