A source, who claimed to be close to Sheridan, told The Sun the pair went their separate ways “a few weeks ago” after realising their romance had run its course, but also revealed there was “no major drama” between them.

The on-off couple first got together more than 20 years ago, with Sheridan confirming their reunion in September.

She had penned on Instagram: “So pleased this fitty I dated back in the day (20 years ago) is back in my life.

“Life works in mysterious ways… miss you Mr L,” the Cilla actress gushed at the time.

According to OK! Magazine, the former Gavin and Stacey star wiped all traces of Alex from her social media back in October 2021.

However, speculation of a split was silenced when they attended the gala performance of Pride and Prejudice together shortly after.

Now, a source has told The Sun: “Sheridan and Alex’s relationship ended a few weeks ago.

“There was no major drama and they both agreed their romance had run its course.

“Sheridan was delighted when she rekindled her old flame with Alex and it was a wonderful reunion for them both.

“But after a while it was clear that they would be better off as friends.”

They added: “She is single now and focusing on herself and her son.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Sheridan’s reps for comment.

Sheridan shares son Billy with her former fiancé Jamie Horn.

The co-parents split back in July last year, after three years together.

The TV star announced the news in a statement given to The Sun on Sunday.

She said at the time: “It is with great sadness that we have decided to have some time apart.

“We both remain completely committed to raising our beautiful boy Billy together.

“We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”
