Jacquie Beltrao, 55, has revealed she “needed a cry” this afternoon while sharing some upsetting news about her home life with her 80,000 Twitter followers. The Sky News presenter, who is battling stage 4 breast cancer, took to social media to share a video of herself running outdoors, which she credits with helping her when she’s feeling tearful.

Jacquie revealed she was embarking on her first run after leaving hospital.

The star explained she felt she needed to exercise to take her mind off from the devastating news of her beloved pet dog Maddie’s ill health.

Explaining the situation, Jacquie said in her video: “First run since coming out of hospital, super slow.

“But I needed to cry and running and listening to music kind of helps it bubble up if that makes any sense?”

“I needed a cry so it had to be done.

“Maddie my 16 year old doggie isn’t doing too well @DogsTrust.”

She also wrote across her video: “I needed to cry and I find running helps with that!”

Fans rushed to the comments section of Jacquie’s emotional post to share their support.

One person wrote: “Oh bless you Jacquie. I am so sorry to hear that Maddie is not well. I do hope the little girl will get through her problems. Lots of love x.”

Another added: “I’m so sorry- hope Maddie picks up for you – you have enough to worry about…Sending hugs.”

Jacquie’s update comes after she bravely returned to work, appearing on Sky News last week.

However, the presenter said she was “incredibly rashy” after hospital treatment.

The host was seen hooked up to a drip just two days prior to her appearance on the news channel, saying she was “still red”.

She tweeted at the time: “Back in on a Friday @SkyNews for the first time in a while – sport in just a sec but I’ve got a question for you – tweet me.

“(PS note the polo neck shirt I’m still incredibly rashy!).”

Jacquie was diagnosed with breast cancer on Christmas Eve 2013 and later had a mastectomy, with the disease – stage 4 – returning in June last year.
