Strictly Come Dancing stars getting boozy after dazzling opening night

The Strictly Come Dancing live shows kicked off in spectacular fashion last night and saw the stars celebrate in style after a very successful first night in Birmingham.

After the first night of the Strictly tour, 2019 champion Kelvin Fletcher and his co-stars headed back to the Malmaison Hotel for his 36th birthday celebrations.

The former Emmerdale actor was seen doing shots with fellow dancers after a successful first night.

In a video posted by Aljaž Škorjanec, Kelvin was in high spirits as the group chanted Happy Birthday as they sat at a table laden with drinks.

In December Kelvin was crowned the Strictly Come Dancing champion with Oti, Mabuse after being drafted in at the last minute when Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing was forced to pull out with a knee injury.

Shirley Ballas and Joshua Keefe dazzled on opening night, with Strictly Come Dancing Choreographer Joshua getting fans hot under the collar as he stepped out to perform in a crisp white shirt – unbuttoned to his chest – and black suspenders.

He took the hand of the gorgeous professional ballroom dancer Shirley Ballas in Birmingham for their opening night of the tour.

The 59-year-old brunette bombshell wowed the West Midland audience as she flaunted her toned figure in a low cut black and white 1920s inspired fringe dress.

Glamorous couples taking part in the show include social media sensation Saffron Barker and AJ Pritchard, EastEnders actress Emma Barton and Graziano Di Prima, BBC Breakfast’s Mike Bushell and Katya Jones, actor and champion Kelvin Fletcher and Janette Manrara, Sky Sports presenter Alex Scott and Neil Jones, actress Catherine Tyldesley and Johannes Radebe, CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden.

The sparkling line-up of celebrities and professional dancers were joined by reigning Strictly champion and new host Stacey Dooley.

Tour host and reigning Strictly champion Stacey Dooley was joined by a panel of judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood (who also directs the tour) and Bruno Tonioli.

Professional dancers Luba Mushtuk, Karen Hauer, Dianne Buswell, Joshua Keefe, Jake Leigh and Robbie Kmetoni also took to the stage to perform.

On the tour, audiences are invited to decide who wins the Glitterball Trophy at the end of each show.

The tour judges will, as always, provide feedback and scores after each performance – but the audience can vote via text for their favourite couple, and it is ultimately their votes that will decide who wins.

Speaking about the upcoming tour, new host Stacey Dooley said: "I’m so excited to be joining the Strictly gang again and can’t wait to experience it from a different perspective!

“I’m really looking forward to hosting the tour as I know it’ll be a blast.

“I had such an amazing time last year, I hope I’ll find a way to get those dancing shoes back on again too!”
