Strictly Come Dancing viewers rejoice over show format change – Was pointless

Anton Du Beke reacts to Annabel Croft’s routine on Strictly

BBC viewers have highlighted a supposed massive change in Strictly Come Dancing’s format during last night’s live show.

Since it aired its first series in 2004, the BBC dance competition usually follows the same routine where a couple will dance and then a replay is shown of their moves.

However, fans were quick to point out that the latter had seemingly been scrapped by producers.

Instead, the cameras continued to stay on the couples as they retreated upstairs to the other contestants and host Claudia Winkleman to await the judges’ scores.

The shake-up caused a stir online with many pleased about the move.

One person wrote on X, formally known as Twitter: “So glad they’ve cut the 2-second slo-mo replay when the contestants run upstairs… it was so pointless! #Strictly.”

A second person typed: “They’ve finally got rid of the annoying replay of the dance when the couple runs up to see Claudia! That used to really annoy me because we’d miss everyone’s reactions #Strictly.”

A third noticed and said: “Where’s the slo-mo replay after they’ve run up to Claudia?! #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly.”

The live show also saw the return of a familiar face from series 14.

Ed Balls made a shock appearance during the BBC dance competition to read out the terms and conditions to voters.
