Strictly’s Adam Thomas struggles with ‘more pressure’ as he fears exit from show

Adam Thomas shares he’s nervous ahead of Strictly performance

Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Thomas laughed nervously in a candid video filmed ahead of tonight’s performance, admitting the pressure has been piled on for him to live up to lofty expectations.

The 35-year-old Waterloo Road star, who’s been partnering pro dancer Luba Mushtuk, agonised: “I’m getting pretty emotional just thinking this could be my last time in my Strictly dressing room, in my Strictly robe.”

However, he added decisively: “I don’t wanna go! As challenging as it is, I’m not ready yet – I feel like I’ve got so much more to give.

“We had the rehearsal before and it just felt like there was a lot more pressure on me for some reason just because I feel like I need to deliver this weekend,” the actor explained.

The soap star’s wife and two best pals are due to cheer him on in the audience today, but he’s admitted he’s wracked with nerves.

“Is it going to be my last dance? Who knows? You decide!” he declared to his one million followers, while nervously giggling.

Despite his worries, the actor decided: “There’s no point worrying about things that I cannot control. I’ve just got to focus on my dance and go out there and just give it everything that I’ve got. I can do this!”

Adam also added that he was “in awe” of his fellow contestants, who include EastEnders star Bobby Brazier and his pro partner Dianne Buswell, as well as Angela Rippon, who’s paired with Kai Widdrington.

“Everyone’s just smashing it – they just keep getting better and better each week. I’m in awe of them – they’re next level!” he exclaimed.

Adam has made no secret of battling with his nerves over the weeks, even telling the world he’d had a “full on anxiety attack” during another Instagram session last month.

“Saturday night nerves get the better of me and my mind’s a mush and I forget the routine. I just go into panic mode – I’m having a full-on anxiety attack already,” he confessed.

“I don’t know what it is – I just struggle with nerves on Saturday night. If you’ve got any tips or advice to send my way, please feel free to slide into my DMs!”

Adam also confessed that he’s been finding it difficult balancing work commitments with intensive training sessions to help him master his dance routines.

“I obviously don’t get any time to myself because I go from one job to another. It’s been full-on,” the Waterloo Road star previously explained.

Talking of his “tough” grind, he admitted: “We have to crack on and do the best job we can do but it’s just frustrating because I know the dancing and the routines could be a lot better if I had the same time as everybody else.”

In spite of that, Luba made it clear that she considers him to be on top form.

“I’ve never had a better season than this one so I’m over the moon with everything!” she revealed after last week’s dance.

Catch Adam and Luba dancing for the seventh time on Strictly Come Dancing tonight at 7:05pm on BBC One.
