Strictly’s Shirley Ballas in tears as son Mark wins Dancing With The Stars US

Shirley Ballas was seen getting emotional in a new video as she congratulated her son for winning Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday morning.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 62, posted the clip following the announcement that her son Mark Ballas won the series with TikTok sensation Charli D'Amelio.

Shirley told followers in the video that she had stayed up until the early hours of the morning to watch son Mark, 36, who is a professional dancer on the US show, and his partner Charli, 18, be named the new dancing champions.

“So, I’ve stayed up all night. It’s now 3.00 am in the morning, and my son, beautiful son Mark and Charli just won the Mirrorball trophy,” Shirley said in the clip as she shed tears.

“I want to give a huge thank you to Harry who’s kept me abreast everything, and Corky all night. Nanny and I have been here, who just got up now, to have a little brandy, because our nerves have gone.”

The proud mum added: “Huge congratulations to Mark, for a beautiful season, to Charli, for really working hard. And to all the beautiful fans, Courtney and Mark and Charlie fans, thank you for keeping me in the loop.

“You are all superstars. Really appreciate it. Thank you…oh my god!”

Shirley shares son Mark with US ballroom dancer Corky Dallas, 61.

Mark was born in Houston, Texas, and went to school in South London. At age 11, he went on to attend Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Art in the capital.

He first appeared on Dancing with the Stars back in 2007 on the fifth season of the show, and continued on as a professional dancer in the series up until season 22.

Mark returned to the show in season 25 and the latest season, and has won the series three times altogether, having previously taken home trophies in season 8 with US gymnast Shawn Johnson and season 6 with US figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi .

Last month, Shirley became emotional again discussing her son Mark, as she was asked what she was “most proud of” from the past year, at the Pride of Britain Awards.

The Strictly judge said: “My proudest achievement this year was that I got to fly to the United States and hold my son in my arms after three years of not seeing him.

“That is the proudest moment that I have had this year.”
