BBC Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has become a grandmother for the first time. The star’s son, Mark Ballas, whom she shares with ex-husband Corky Ballas, has announced the birth of his first child with wife BC Jean.
Former Dancing With The Stars pro Mark shared the exciting news on Instagram this week, with an adorable photo of his newborn son. “Welcome to Earth my son,” Mark wrote on the social media platform, before confirming the little one’s unique name, Banksi Wylde Ballas.
He added: “Banksi Wylde Ballas 11 / 5 / 23.” Wife BC also shared a family photo with the caption: “Banksi Wylde Ballas Joined us earthside 11-5-23. Happy one month sweet boy You are so loved.”
Shirley, 63, previously shared her delight over becoming “a glam-ma for the first time”. She revealed to BBC Breakfast: “My son is in Los Angeles so where there’s a will there’s a way, as with my challenges.”
Mark and his wife’s happy announcement comes after the couple were left devastated last year when BC suffered a miscarriage. Mark shared with his social media followers at the time that “during one of our check ups we received the heavy news that our little one’s heart had stopped beating”.

Shirley was quick to congratulate her son and daughter-in-law when they announced BC’s pregnancy.
The Strictly star shared on X (formerly Twitter): “Well what can I say… I am beyond excited about this beautiful announcement.
