Zara McDermott rushed out of a rehearsal early after being told her boyfriend Sam Thompson was suffering a medical emergency.
Recalling the story on his Staying Relevant podcast to co-host Pete Wicks, Sam told of how crippling stomach pains had led him to believe he was battling kidney disease.
In fact, it was a false alarm as he was quickly given the all-clear – but, mistakenly thinking he was “dying”, he’d put in a SOS call to Zara and she’d curtailed her dancing routine to be with him as quickly as possible.
Suppressing laughter, Sam chuckled: “I made Zara leave her Strictly training early to come and see me at the doctors, and it was just for the guy to go, ‘Yeah, you’re fine’.”
He had been accompanied to the hospital by TOWIE star Pete, whom he thanked profusely on the podcast.

“You came to me when I thought I was dying and you literally were there for me!” he exclaimed.
Meanwhile, now that her boyfriend has a clean bill of health, it’s back to the grindstone for Zara, who has already landed in the bottom two twice, avoiding elimination both times.
The 26-year-old has been busily practising to the point of developing painful blisters on her feet, and trying to fit in training sessions around trips to Spain to film her forthcoming BBC Three documentary, Inside Ibiza.
She has openly documented the process on her Instagram account, even sharing footage of herself applying face masks on the plane in a bid to prevent her skin from dehydrating as she grapples with very little sleep.

Former Strictly pro James Jordan, who was a finalist on the show in 2012 with Denise Van Outen, revealed he doesn’t see her as a natural on the dancefloor.
Last week, taking to his Strictly: The Truth video series for Hello! magazine, he insisted that the former Love Islander only stands a chance of getting through another gruelling week in the competition if she opts for an “easier” dance, like the Tango next time.
“She’s had a lot of the easier dances, Paso, Tango… if she can do Tango, possibly she can get away with it,” he mused.
“That’s the only dance that she might be able to save herself with – [with] anything else, I think she’s gonna be in the bottom two.”

Despite that, she and pro partner Graziano di Prima are popular on the show, and have managed to save themselves in the dance-off both times.
Sam spoke out about his girlfriend during a Pride of Britain Awards interview, insisting it doesn’t matter if her dancing skills aren’t up to scratch.
“She’s perfect to the viewer because she is a terrible dancer. This is the whole point of Strictly, you get people from different backgrounds who can’t dance. You want to see the journey,” he insisted.
The 31-year-old concluded: “I don’t want to see someone who’s ready-made, because what’s the point in that? I’ll go and see a show instead.”
