The Chase: Anne Hegarty recalls her I’m a Celeb experience
Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty took to social media to hit back at trolls after they attempted to try and fat shame her.
The Chaser outed an X user [formerly known as Twitter], who branded her “obese” in the cruel comment.
In the scathing post, they also said that she was an “extremely bad example” who should be “kept off TV shows”.
Writing on the social media platform, the user said: “@anne_hegerty Such obvious obesity you should be kept off TV shows. Extreme bad example.
The professional quizzer was quick to respond and replied, sharing with her 156,000 followers: “Bet I’m healthier than you, mate.”

Fans were quick to jump to Anne’s defence, by responding in the comments sections.
One person said: “Rude – you are strong bold and beautiful Anne (and clever).”
While another wrote: “What a horrible cruel thing to say. We love the bones of you in our home Anne. Best wishes.”
BBC Broadcaster and DJ Edward Adoo supported Anne as he penned: “What a horrid person. You are Fab Anne. One of my great friends. Keep doing what you do.”
Anne recently spoke out on her time during I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after a question about cockroaches came up on the hit ITV show.
The former campmate took part back in 2018 and took the show by storm, despite not winning that year’s series.
The Chase host Bradley Walsh had asked a question about a film which referenced an actor eating a live cockroach.
Anne recalled: “I’ve had cockroaches all over me. That is not an experience I wish to repeat.”

“But they tend to use the cockroaches to sort of drop all over you. This is less fun than it sounds, and it doesn’t sound like fun.”
Anne spoke to Express.co.uk last year and said she was proud that she took part – despite admitting she would not do it again
“So, yeah, I wouldn’t do I’m A Celeb again but I’m glad to have done it. I’m glad to have it under my belt,” she said.
“It did result in an increase in exposure and an increase in opportunities.”
